Hi all! So this year we stayed at ASM. I loved it! The rooms were kind of small but the themes were great! Everyone that worked there was amazing! There was no coffeepot but we brought our own so it worked ok.
Question is, I notice it's not THAT much more expensive to go to a moderate resort. Is it really worth it though? Are the rooms bigger? The pools better? And the all stars are the only ones with a food court right? The other hotels have resturants not counter service?? Anyway, just curious sincec we'll book our sept trip sometime in Jan or Feb. Also, we are going with another family and will need two rooms next to eachother. Are they pretty good about making sure we will get that? Sorry for all the questions. But thanks in advance for all the answers! :)

We've stayed at both and for our family of then 4 and now 5 the moderates were better choice. We found the All Star rooms to be too cramped. While the moderates aren't much bigger there is just that extra little bit of room plus two sinks (at least at POR AB where we've stayed) which is so convenient in morning.

There is a food court at POR as well as a restaurant. There is also a bar at the pool which I don't recall AS having.

Personally we prefer POR and feel it is worth the extra $$, altho we are now 5 so AS is not an option unless we got a second room which would make it more expensive than POR.

I would try it once, even split your stay between the two and then you'll know for sure.

Yes they are BETTER then the values .Some ?most have food court type as well as sit down .
Just like all others you can request connecting rooms we have had great sucess at it but you never know.
I say if you can afford then keep checking all that Disney resorts have to offer (thats whats so great ) then you can really pick the 1 you love best or afford for quick trip.
We have stayed off-sight ,most of values & mods and just bought into DVC.but just went for a quick 3 day at PC and loved it.

POR is definitely worth the extra money. It has 5 or 6 pools, multiple bus stops, a restaurant and food court etc. It also has a more relaxed atmosphere than the AS resorts. I think the rooms in the alligator bayou section have trundle beds, as well. I'd love to go back!

Disney is very good about pricing their various hotel offerings very well, commensurate with how much extra you get above the lower-level resorts. The question, for each person, is whether the extra you get above the lower-level resorts, is of-value to them. For folks who are true commandos, never taking a break midday, off to the parks at 8AM each day, and staying out until after park closing, the budget resorts are surely more than enough. For folks (like us) who have been to WDW so often that the trip is more about relaxing at the resort, with the parks a nice diversion for several hours each day, staying at a deluxe resort is essential.

Thanks so much guys! Well this last trip the ASM worked good for us since we were go,go,go. I hadn't been to disneyworld in about 15 years and DH and MIL hadn't been there in over 20 years so the all star was great for us to sleep in and super cute so the kids loved it! I'm thinking though next year willbe a little slower and would like to try something nicer. The POR looks like New Orleans right?

POFQ is themed after New Orleans. POR is themed more like the bayous of Louisiana.

POR has the mansion area too. More of a southern "Gone With the Wind" theme. We like those the best. Check out my pictures to see what I mean.

We have decided that we are either a Value or a Deluxe (WL/AKL) family - we love the Values, and if we are going to spend the extra money, we go for the deluxe - our first 2 visits were at mods, and then we did 2 value visits, and much preferred the values. We didn't think that the moderates gave us enough extra for the money.

You can see our sig and where we've stayed. I would not say that either POFQ or CBR were that spectacular, but were very nice. Now CSR, on the other hand, is way better than the values. The pool area is one of the best on property and there are three themed areas to choose from. The food court and sit-down restaurant are very nice and closer to what you would find at a deluxe. I prefer CSR over some of the deluxes we've stayed at, namely the Poly and Beach Club

Yes it is worth it. The rooms are a little bigger and the properties are a little nicer in my opinion. That being said, I don't think there is anything wrong with the Values either but I prefer the Moderates of the 2.

We think that it is worth it. Not so much for the space issue, but for the more relaxed feel of the mods. We also don't see as many loud groups at the mods as we did the values mainly b/c everything is more spread out. I would suggest you give it a try and see how you like it before going back to the same resorts over and over. We gave values a try and liked it, but didn't love it, and now are back to mods.

Room wise I didn't notice much difference. Double beds, about the same size, no closet etc. The bathrooms at POR however are MUCH better than the values. Two sinks, shelf above the sink (Pop Century also has a shelf but the All Stars don't), privacy curtain and a hairdryer. I love the values, especially the All Stars but have to say having stayed at POR I enjoy that a little more. I love the quiet, relaxed environment at POR. My kids loved the pool slide and my husband and I loved the hot tub. If however staying at POR meant I had to skimp on total nights, souveniers or other things I wanted to do I would stay at the values. Sometimes the savings is more than others. Last January we stayed at Pop Century for $49 a night, you cannot beat that. This December however, Pop was going to be $130 a night and POFQ is $184. I hate paying $184 for POFQ but I would be aghast to pay $130 for Pop! With the huge crowds we know will be there, it seemed worth an extra $250 total to stay at POFQ. As another poster stated, we have been to WDW several times now and spend more time relaxing at the resort than we did on our earlier trips so it seems worth it to us.

Oh definatly worth it. We had been used to moderates before we decided to try out a value. Hubby now has RAD, won't ever do a value again if at all possible.

Moderates are better :)

the landscaping is better with a moderate.

the moderates have a slide and one hot tub in the main pool area.

most moderates have 2 sinks.

I like Pop better - I certainly can't explain it. May be because of the Lady and Tramp..... :goodvibes
