Value For Money Or Are You Better Eating Offsite:cool1: :cool1: I Will Be Staying Offsite,Would Love Some Opinion's On The DDP:banana:

Thanks

Works for some, not for others.
We prefer offsite dinning (and hotels) the parks are enough for me, want to get away from Disney for everything else.
We know great places to eat, average cost in August was $70/day for 3 adults. This included 2 meals a day, snacks and sodas. Onsite we would struggle to eat and drink for $70/day.
I would also not enjoy planning where I wanted to eat months in advance.
Others prefer it, something you have to try yourself I guess.

This is my opinion too. Apart from the fact you have to plan well in advance, it also restricts your days. I don't like being told I have to eat at a certain place or time on a certain day. It might not fit in with my plans for where I want to visit.

But everyone is different.

I think as you are staying offsite you cant have the DDP anyway.

Andy

Yes need to be staying on site in a WDW hotel to be eligble for the DDP and it needs to be included with rack room rate and MYW base ticket for at least a day for all persons staying on that reservation.

Claire ;)

If you are staying offsite the DDP will not be an opton for you.

The DDP is only available to guests staying in a Disney hotel and purchasing a package of room, tickets and dinning.

We had the free DDP last month and loved it :thumbsup2 however we would probably not pay for it as we are just as happy to eat offsite even staying onsite as we always have a car.

For us we had 14 nights and were not overly impressed with all of the restaurants and there are only a handful we would bother to return to. :goodvibes

Silly Silly Me:happytv: :happytv: I Thought That You Could Get The DDP With An AP:eek:

Ah you could be thinking of the Disney Dining Experience a 20% discount card for most table service restaurants that costs $65 if you have an AP.

Claire ;)

I have the DDE card and that gets you a 20% discount on food and drink (including alcohol) at a wide range of WDW table service restaurants and bars. It costs $65 with an AP. Last summer, we took a party of 8 to WDW and the card was a fantastic money-saver... :thumbsup2

Yes Wayne It Doe's Seem An Awful Alot $65 Just To Get The 20% Off,Probably Worth It To Some Folk,To Benefit It You Would Really Need To Eat Onsite All The Time...

To break even you need to be spend $325 in food and alcohol, so in 2 weeks for a family of 4 that is quite achievable, and even more so if you get 2 visits within the 13 month time frame of the card :teeth: We broke even for the 2 of us with our 11 day visit at New Year and we couldn't even use it for NYE as a black out date, so anything from next week is a bonus.

Yes, absolutely - one visit to Victoria & Albert's for two and the card had paid for itself and started to save money so really was worth it for us...

$325 for 1 meal:scared1: Thats about what we spend off site for 5 days for 3 adults.:rotfl2:
I have never been one for spending lots on food, how ever much it costs you are hungry again in 4 or 5 hours. Like I say its worth it for some people and it certainly is for CustardTart.

we have done the ddp both free and paid.We paid for it when we were at our dvc accomadation.
Yes it was good value for us when we paid for it while staying dvc, because we dident have to buy park tickets
Free ddp is always good value as you only had to buy 1 day park ticket and pay full rate for your room.We bought with disney us direct and we stayed in a value(pop)
Free ddp next year if going througth a uk TA you have to stay in a moderate and buy a flex ticket, plus from jan 1st there will be no app and tips wont be included. So if paying its not worth it
The dde card only costs $65 but you have to buy an annual pass to get one so that cost still has to be factored in
But with the DDP you have to plan and book your resturants well in advance.
Would you be able to say where you wanted to eat in 6 months?
I do like the DDP but having done it quite a few times now, wont be doing it again(might do it again only if free )
Why Cost of eating off site at a good place still works out cheaper than disney.

Hell yeah! :woohoo: It was our Wedding Anniversary and we had an absolutely fab time! :thumbsup2 Hoping to go back in Dec 2008 for an evening at the Chef's Table to celebrate DD's 26th birthday with the family... :goodvibes

TBH we like eating out whether at home or abroad and, when in Florida, enjoy all sorts of places - from IHOP to V&A! It's all part of the attraction of Orlando and WDW... :cloud9:

I'd like to try the DDP at some point - but for a limited number of days during our stay as I love the off-site restaurants too...
