you can't get a discount on your room? I've been trying to crunch the numbers and yes, I do save money on food if I use the DDP, but if I can't use a discount code on my room, is the DDP worth it? I know you can use AAA, but usually the discount codes that come out, saves me more than AAA. :confused3

The only way to know for sure if you'd come out ahead is to wait and see how much your discount code is for this year.

I would guess that if you are close without using the code - the code will probably end up saving you more. That's just a guess though.

I was thinking the same thing, the code would save me more money. Thanks.:)

Depends on where you usually stay. If you normally stay at values, an average discount may be $40.00 a night. For even just two people, the free DDP is worth more (not even just because it is $37.99 each - but if you add up just minimal food costs, there is no way 2 can eat for $40.00 a day - even doing mostly CS).

But if normally stay deluxe, then the room discount is much greater, and therefore may be worth more than the cost of your food.

Well ... I calculated some averages for TS & CS meals here: http://personalpages.tds.net/~rb/DIS/MYW Dining/DisneyDiningRanking2008.htm

The average TS meal (entree, dessert, tax) is $27.
The average CS meal (entree, dessert, tax) is $13.
The average Snack (for a mickey bar) is $2.50.

The total is $42.50. You will pay $38 for the DDP. If you save more that $4.50 per adult with a discount, it's better to take the discount.

If you maximize your eating, the average is about $7 more.

Of course, it all depends on where you eat and what you order.

Thanks for the list of restaurants, Robin.

I think I would save $7 a day using the DDP and I usually stay at the Poly and with a discount code, I think it would be more than $7 a day off, at least I hope so;)

I think if my 12 year old was still considered a child like 2 or 3 years ago, the DDP may be worth it, since I will definitely be coming out ahead with my 8 year old.

Since I'm going Jersey Week, there's no way free dining will be offered, so it looks like I'll be going the OOP route:)
