Is the current deal for Disneyland Hotel as good as it gets?

We're planning to stay at the Disneyland Hotel on Dec 9 for 4 nights. I know its expensive and we're unlikely to come to Europe again for a long time (Flying in from Australia). To stay there is a dream and I'm hoping that we can make it happen...Having never been to DLP, I'm not familiar with prices and the kinds of deals that has been offered for the Disneyland Hotel in the past. Currently the price is 1840 pounds for 4 nights and 5 days. There are 2 adults and 3 children in our family who are aged 4, 7 and 9. Is this a reasonable price for the Disneyland hotel?

Thank you so much for your help.

thats just about as good as it gets for December - thats a family room at the DLH, and 2 nights free. So thats around 40% off plus one child (your 4-year old) free.
If you can change your dates to after the beginning of January through to the end of March 2013, you might get a much better price, as the 2 nights free deal is still available, plus kids under 12 stay free (so all of your children would be free).

Your dates are in the cheapest winter price band so unless you wait until the last minute and get lucky in a flash sale it is unlikely to get better. As DLP daft said going Jan-Mar would be slightly cheaper because your 7 and 9 year olds would be free but that would only save you about £250.

I have been wondering this too....and if it is worth the extra to stay there. My girls will be 3 & 6.

When are you going NPB? I think if it's peak season - summer or winter, then it is worth it. This has been debated on here many times, some of the pros are:

- location - walk is nothing at all especially shuffling through a sea of people when the park is at it's max (or waiting for a shuttle bus and being pushed/crammed in!).

- security - linked to the above, you do not have a security check to get through when you stay at the DLH (lord knows why you don't?) - so no queuing for EMH - potentially means you can be one of the first in the park if this is important to you.

- breakfast * - most comprehensive of the Disney hotels and an attraction in itself (to quote DLP Daft :)). Check out the hotel threads at the top for a list of the usual fare. Sitting overlooking Main Street & the Castle starting your day is fab!

- character meets * - you do seem to get more unusual character meets at the DLH at breakfast - eg we've met the Genie, Max (Goofy's son), Chip n Dale, Tigger, Rabbit, Eeyore etc. Can't think of the others at the mo. At the other Disney hotels it seems to be the usual - Mickey/Minnie/Pluto/Goofy. This can be a boon if the parks are busy as normally character meets are quieter in the hotels.

- Cafe Fantasia * - it's a lovely place to chill in the evenings and have a (very) expensive cocktail - the piano playing adds a nice touch.

- Fastpass - yes, it's only 1 fastpass per person, per day and it's often only valid in the afternoons but when it is busy it does help.

Obviously some of these (*) are open to non residents but you can take full advantage if staying here.

I'm sure there is more that others can add. As you can tell, I love the DLH but it is often prohibitively more expensive than the other hotels unless a good offer comes along! :sad2:

ETA - DLH isn't everyone's 'cup of tea' and there are a some people on here who have stayed there and prefer other Disney hotels - HNY / SL etc. It is quite subjective and a matter of preference I guess!
