Is the CRT really worth the 200.00

We are planning our first trip to DW in 2007. I would like my 9 year old DD to have a princess experience but was wondering if one of the other princesses meals was better bang for the buck (or are they all rediculously priced).

If you've never been and you really want to and so does your DD then I'd say go for it. I would not do it again, but I am glad to have done it once. If you are strapped for the $$ and that would prevent you from doing it I would suggest you enjoy some wonderful goodies from the bakery on Main Street then head over to toontown for the opening (it opens an hour after the park opens) and head right into the princess line. Your DD will get serious one on one time with the princesses and there will be ample photo op time. For many the food at CRT is not really very good and the service as well as character interaction can be hit or miss.

CRT is ridiculously priced. However, if it's her first visit, she's only little once and there's still magic when dining inside the castle. That being said, the Princess Storybook dining is cheaper. However, they will hit you with a photo package as well, so if you fork out the $30 for that, it will be more. There is also 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. Only Cinderella usually, but Prince C. is there too and your 9 yo might get a kick out of that. He usually kisses princesses hands and that is quite the gesture for a 9 yo I would think. It's not worth it to us. Of course, we go to WDW several times each year; so seeing the princesses is not a priority. The kids know they will see them here and there throughout the year.

If you have a dd fixated on Cinderella, I would recommend 1900 for dinner. The character interaction is great, and the food is wonderful.

We'll be bringing our niece when she turns five, and it'll be very-much worth it for us. We recently brought her older brother -- he's six -- and it wasn't worth it to us. So even with the same group, over time, it will or won't be worth it.

It really is a mixed bag. I mean paying more for the meal then we pay for admission into the parks is always an interesting decision.

Is it the experience of a lifetime? Or is being at Disney the experience?

I guess you have to figure if at the end of the vacation the experience just wouldn't be the same without a meal in the castle.

We did CRT and it was with free dining. It is hard to argue with free. Even so, my daughters remember all of the experiences we had.

Funny isn't it that as parents we think the "better and bigger" the experience the more memorable?

My daughters (5/5) still talk about being able to ride the teacups with tweedle dee and tweedle dum. Amazingly that didn't require an additional fee by Disney. We just got lucky.

But to be fair, if it doesn't break the bank, you do have to eat someplace, so why not in the castle. If you can find something better to do with $200.00 then I sure would.

We did it with the dining plan. It was an unexpected delight. The weather was SOOOO hot (in August) and we had reservations for lunch at noon. It is one of my favorite memories as it felt like such a respite from our really hectic and hot day.

I don't know if it would be worth the $$$$ but if you have the dining plan, I would definitely go for it.
