Is the coffee still awful??

When we were at The World last year we were warned about the coffee. We made sure we brought our own coffee maker/coffee for the mornings...but...one afternoon we actually did have a coffee at MK. :earseek: Woah!!! It was terrible. We may be going again this February for a quick trip and were wondering...

Is the coffee still awful? Should we bring our own maker?? Should we stick with Coke for a caffeine fix in the afternoon?

I was there over New Year's and the coffee is still the same.....I think it is Nescafe made from coffee syrup instead of ground beans. I don't mind it, but I would definitely prefer fresh brewed!

I was there last Sept. & the coffee was absolutely awful! I couldn't wait to come home to have a nice brewed cup! :-) maybe i will do what you did on our next trip!!

I understand (from other posts) that decent coffee can be found... at the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian and also at the Swan/Dolphin (if you like Starbucks). And, I think Bomas offers something at their restaurant... can't think of the name... Other than that, you're stuck with Nescafe. Seems a pity that a world class resort like Disney can only offer a sub-standard coffee product.

Oh thank you! I thought I was the only one who HATED it! And I even worked at BB for a three montn internship...had to change the coffee syrup bag and boy was that gross if you got any on you! Why can't they just get something better????

Bring your own maker & beans - we always do. WDW has the World's Worst Coffee. If I wasn't going back to the resort for an afternoon rest, I'd still go back for my afternoon cuppa!

Sters, I couldn't agree with you more - Pity that they allow themselves to be held hostage by sponsership to a substandard product......

Yup--
WDW is strictly BYOC for us, too--makes clothes smell a little funny when I pack ground coffee in a carryon, but worth it :D

We were pretty disappointed in the coffee on our last trip too. My DH will drink pretty much any coffee . . . even the yucky stuff :crazy2: The kids and I are going in a couple of weeks and I was thinking about taking some of the Folgers single-serve bags (they look and work like tea bags). Anyone tried those or brought them to WDW? Also, someone posted a pic of disposable coffee cups and I was thinking of picking those up too if I can find them. Hmm . . . if I can find hot water during the day at the park I could bring the disposable cup and put the coffee bag in it and make my own coffee.

That's it you have convinced me--especially after the syrup comment- I am going to bring my Dunkin Donuts coffee not time I am there. I normally grin and bear it---

I used to use these at work a lot. They are instant coffee and ground coffee together so they taste a little bit better than instant. More "real". They are a whole lot better than nescafe though. We bring our own coffee since we go to Ft Wilderness and they have coffeemakers there. At the parks I just do without, yuck.

FYI - several years ago, I picked up a Travel Coffee Maker at WalMart. It's made by Black & Decker & it brews into a travel mug. No glass to worry about, no need for an extra mug or cup. I can brew into my travel mug & hit the Parks. I bring a ziploc bag to put the dirty mug in in my backpack. If I'm not planning to carry a backpack, I ask at the food court or counter-service restaurant if I can have a couple of disposable coffee cups/lids for my room & have never been turned down.

One trip to WDW without my own coffee was all it took!

is there a dunken donuts any where close by off property? my cop husband would rather get up early and make his way there than drink the stuff you guys are talking about.

What about the coffee that they provide in the resort rooms? That's not Nescafe, is it? That has to be brewed... right? :guilty:

Every trip i've been to Disney, I go without a good cup of coffee. Shame isn't it?

Exceptions to the bad coffee at WDW:

Kona Cafe at Poly has a pressed pot of Kona Coffee:earseek: , not to mention Tonga Toast. Worth at least one breakfast visit. There is also counter service coffee. Boma at AKL also has a pressed pot of some African coffee that's really good. The Contemporary has a take out counter that makes espresso, etc. So depending on where you're staying, you might find some good brew. Ask a CM at your resort. They may have some good suggestions.

Yes, you brew it from ground coffee that they provide if you don't bring your own. I don't know what brand it is, but even if you use that, use bottled water. There is something about the tap water that just makes coffee not taste right (at least to me).
But then, starting a day without a large iced from Dunkins' is not easy for me!

I thought the coffe tasted different because I'm used to coffee & chickory (born and raised in New Orleans) and it was just "plain" coffee. I may be doing the coffee pot thing 2/6-2/12.

I used the Folgers single-serves last year and put them in the coffee basket and brewed them rather than using like a teabag in a cup. It was a 4-cup coffe pot and one bag was just right for me. My mom would need two though because she likes her coffee strong. Try it out in your coffee pot at home to see how many you will need.
