Is the coffee really that bad?

I put in half coffee and half hot chocolate. It's really GOOD that way!:thumbsup2 ....or at least drinkable!

That's what I did too, My own Disney Mocha Magic. We try to do a TS breakfast if possible. I thought the Nescafe tea bags were gross. I really wanted Twinings or Lipton.

A day in Disney with bad coffee is better than a day at home with great coffee ...

I like good coffee too much for any thing, or combination of things at WDW to somehow compensate. The best I can say is that "I can put up with nearly anything for 3 days," which is how long my wife's convention lasts (she misses the good stuff more than I do). It's interesting that no matter where else we've stayed, even in a half-dozen European countries, I can always walk a block or two at the most and get a good cup of coffee. But being "on-property" here at WDW, you're a captive audience (by design, of course) and it's just too much of a PITA to go for Starbucks in the A.M.

That being said, I can drink the coffee at the resorts, but I have to doctor it up. I make iced coffee when I'm in WDW too. I just fill the refillable mug with ice up to the top, and then add the coffee. Just the right temp and the ice cuts the bitter nasty flavor slightly. I get some strange looks at the resort while doing this, but I don't care.
:surfweb:

Oooooh......... I like this idea  Can you use milk too in the refillable mugs? I only drink iced coffee but cut it with milk and would love to do it this way for our trip. I drink probably 2 big cups a day - think McDonalds.

Sad...I love great coffee. I live in Seattle for cryin out loud.

Yes, someone please tell me what kind of coffee makers the mod resorts have(I'm staying at CBR) so we can bring our own. We plan on going straight to the parks in morning since we're bringing bananas with us, but we'd like to start with coffee too.

As for me and mine, we're coffee snobs, so the Disney coffee we agree is not drinkable. Coffee is one of the few things we are snobbish about (for me, beer is another). We have actually evolved into drinking French Press coffee for our daily cuppajoe, so the solution for us was easy - we went and got a travel/camping style French Press and brought a ziploc of ground coffee from our favorite local roaster. Anywhere you can get hot water for hot tea, you can then make French Press coffee as well. Tasty tasty!

It's not too good, and I'm normally a coffee snob (I even use a French press at work), but I can suck it up for a few days -- I'm at WDW!! I love me some coffee, but at WDW, it's just not worth the aggravation and effort. :confused3

Heck, we recently camped at Bonnaroo with no power, no campstove, and nasty Manchester, TN sulfur water. We still made due with individual packets of Nescafe, shelf-stable soy milk, and we even drank our morning coffee iced because we had no heat source (plus it was hot as the dickens and hot beverages would have made us implode!)

Oh, it's pretty darned bad.

I seem to remember the words 'dirty dishwater' coming up on occasion. :worried:

Why Disney and Starbucks haven't joined forces by now is anybody's guess.
The Dolphin has Starbucks coffee packs and great coffee makers in each room which sometimes seems like half the reason we stay there.

Not to bash.. but... please not Starbucks! They have enough troubles as it is right now and their coffee has gotten mediocre at best. I can't remember what the coffee is like but we buy from local roasters but I'll just go with the flow or drink tea ;) :surfweb:

Do Mods have coffee makers? We are staying at Riverside... I may buy a cheap coffee machine and have it sent to the hotel and drink coffee from home. I am certain I can find someone to give it away to at the end of my trip :rotfl:

I have come across a few posts with people saying that the coffee is pretty bad at most resorts and parks...is this really true? I LOVE my coffee in the morning so the thought of an aweful cup of coffee doesn't make me very happy. :( We are staying at ASMovies for the first four nights and I know there isn't a coffee maker in the room so I was going to bring a little single cup maker but how am I going to get boiling water, unless I go to the food court right? I hope I am making sense!!!! My DH also loves to drink hot tea so we will definitely need boiling water!

TIA!

Treat yourself to breakfast at the Kona Cafe and enjoy a french press pot of Kona coffee!

Yes, Riverside has coffee makers. The little 4 cup kind. You may want to bring your own coffee though but Disney does provide coffee for the machine.

I just don't get it. I can appreciate a good cup of coffee as much as anybody, but I'm not offended by a lousy cup of coffee. Sure, I'm disapointed when I go out to an expensive dinner and the after-dinner coffee is lousy, but that doesn't ruin my night. And no, Disney coffee isn't great, but that won't ruin my vacation.
Sure we all have our likes and dislikes, but I'm amazed that people will pack their own coffee maker, or worse, bring a french press then have to search for hot water, instead of having a lousy cup of coffee quick and easy then moving on to another fabulous day of vacation.
To each his own, I guess. If it means that much to the coffee snobs, fine for them. But I'm going to go ahead and assume that these people bring their own coffee/coffeemakers with them wherever they go. Because while Disney coffee might be below average, I've got to think that wherever these people go on vacation they risk getting coffee just as bad or even worse.

It is true that the coffee is horrible. We would love for Disney to enter into a deal with Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks or even a 7-11 it would taste better than that Nescafe'.

I'm another in the minority. I don't have a problem with the coffee I honestly have no problem with the water in Florida either. I stay at ASM and get it every morning while DH and DGS get ready to hit the road. I don't really like Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. I can drink the mud my brother makes so I may not be the best person to ask. As long as its hot and has caffeine I'm happy.

What kind of coffee packets are in the rooms at the mods? How is room brewed coffee?

The coffee is not Starbucks, if it was we wouldn't drink the stuff--too darn bitter! WDW coffee is just your average cup of coffee and we drink it black. We stay at DVC resorts and we stay at the Poly. The coffee provided is equal to Foldgers. We do use bottled water not tap. The Florida water isn't the best tasting water but after a couple of days we do get use to it. What I miss the most, my flavored coffee beans. DH hates flavored beans so I go without for a week. At least I am at WDW. Kathy
