:coffee: When we head to fort in November I’ll need my morning cups of Joe. Knowing how I like to get up earlier then the rest of the family I was thinking of making runs from the site loop 1500 to the closest refillable fill-up station. This way I can run a cold breakfast especially on park days. Also I’d rather not deal with a coffee maker in the popup with DDs 2&4 princess: princess: bouncing around. If I set it up out side I could end up having a raccoon:squirrel: with an empty mug at my site every morning and I’m not going through that again. Is it reasonable to walk to coffee in the morning? Will it be hot and somewhat fresh in the early A.M. 5:00-6:00? Or will I be knocking on trailer doors (with the raccoon):coffee::squirrel: begging, then meeting security?:

I am not sure they are open at 5:00am but a walk to the Meadows Trading Post is a hop, skip and a jump from the 1500 loop and they have Hot Coffee every morning. You can even relax on the back porch in a rocking chair and enjoy the coffee. If you have the Mug, the mug of Joe is even FREE. :thumbsup2

I think setting up your coffee maker outside and covering it with an inverted tote (weighted- or strapped-down) would be the best bet for crack-of-dawn brew. You could leave it setup, use the timer, and keep it safe from both rain and raccoons. No doubt you could use the tote for storage on the road too.

WHAT??? FREE COFFEE!!!!, I had no idea, can you use any mug for the re-fill or does it have to be a DW refillable and if so where can we find them, we have re-fillable mugs form Port Orleans form 2 years ago will tey work??? This could make our vacation, FREE COFFEE YAHOOO

Yes, it is only free with a refillable mug. The rules on the machine state that the mug is refillable only during the stay on which it was purchased. That said, there are plenty of folks with decade old mugs they still refill, apparently without a cross glance from the Post cast.

There are two places to get coffee in the AM at the Fort. Trails End does not open until 7:30 am, and the Meadow Trading Post does not open until 8 AM. There is no coffee available before then. I suggest that you bring a coffee maker.

I always crack up at some of the mugs people still use. At Christmas, I saw someone using one of the old bigger base mugs that said "Dixie Landings" on it. CM's didn't even blink at it.

I don’t consider what they sell at WDW coffee. It is very weak and only really hot when first brewed. If you want a really good cup you will have to make it yourself. I brew ours out under the awning either on a table or sitting on the outdoor stove on the side of the popup. I have never seen a coon at FW. I think they must trap and remove them because we see a lot of coons everywhere else in Florida but never at the fort. Just squirrels, rabbits, armadillos, deer, turkeys, and all kind of birds. Most of the problems we have had are from squirrels and ducks. Neither of which seem very interested in hot coffee. At least I have never had a problem.

I usually cruise around the loops with my mug. If I see an outdoor coffeemaker brewing, I stop by just to test it out. Refills are free.

I bring the good 12 cup percolater and the "real" coffee - come on by! ;)

Someone on the podcast recently dubbed Disney coffee NesCrapé! I love it! (not the coffee, the turn-of-phrase)

Oh so accurate a moniker! When we're at FW it's either home (camper) brewed or that spiffy cart at Epcot over near TT.

Well... or a nice capuccino if we happen to be lucky enough to be at California Grill for dinner. ;)

Good Luck if you get up that early and just bring a coffee pot since the 2&4 year olds shouldn't be up at that hour and if they are you have more issues to contend with than just coffee. Brew it and put it in a thermos if our worried about them.

As someone who works night shift and enjoys coffee, I've learned about this!

I am one who needs a good cup of coffee in the morning, but have been the only one in the family who has a cup so early in the morning. Instead of brewing a huge pot, I have been boiling water and using one of these "one cup at a time brewer":

one_cup.jpg

Easier to keep a pot of water going on low and making a fresh cup whenever I want. Also keeps the water hot when Nancy wakes up and wants some tea. These are about 4 inches tall, would take either a #1 or #2 filter if you want to use one (you can just put the grounds in the cylindrical part at the bottom which has a fine mesh screen like a re-usable filter). They are $3.99 at Campmor. Most of the time we just bring this in the trailer now to avoid possibly breaking the coffee pot.

Having been a resort person prior, and the only one who got up early, I would frequently make a trip down to the food court areas with mug in hand and then go for a walk around the resorts while things were really quiet. Most of them were open by 6:00 or 6:30. Once, while on a grand gathering with other family, my brother and I (he is also an early riser) headed out to the food court a little early. We arrived at the Pop Century food court a few minutes before they were scheduled to open so we tried the door (found it locked), and just sat in the tables outside to wait. One of the CMs who was cleaning the carpets saw us with our mugs and opened the door for us, and had another CM go get the coffee station going. Just another example of individuals going out of their way to make the stay a little more magical. My brother still mentions it (it was his first trip - and he has been back because of this type of service).

While on the subject, anyone have suggestions on where I can get my hands on some good Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee? I can't seem to find any good specialty coffee houses around here lately. There had been one near work, but they closed last fall and I never got around to ordering some.
