Is the Chamber of Horrors at Tussaud's worth the extra?

We'll be visiting London in August and have planned to take in Madame Tussaud's on Wednesday 25 August. It looks like the Planetarium is included in the ticket, but the Chamber of Horrors is not. Have any of you gone through this Chamber and found it to be worthwhile?

I'd also like to purchase our tickets and have them waiting at the "will call" desk. Has anyone used a reliable discount ticket broker that they would like to recommend?

Thanks for your help!!

I haven't been since 1999 and I think they've changed a lot since then. The chamber of horros used to be just static wax works but now it looks like people dress up and try and frighten visitors.

When we visited we had a theme park annual pass that included Madame Tussauds. I think I'd have felt cheated at spending £20 each on the visit. An extra £2 doesn't seem much more if you enjoy being frightened.

The planetarium was disappointing.

We did have a good time though as you can get really close to most of the figures and get good photos. I even tricked a work colleague into thinking I'd really met one of the personalities when I showed her the photo.:teeth:

Sorry the info is a bit out of date hopfully someone else has been more recently.

Thanks for the advice, Libby - I appreciate all your responses thus far - has been a big help!! I think we'll probably skip the Chamber as my DS is not a big fan of people jumping out at him. I, on the other hand, am all for ANYTHING (at this point) that will get my heart going pitter-patter - guess I'll have to wait to see the Brad Pitt wax figure:rolleyes:

Thanks again!!

Hi,

I didn't know there was an extra charge for the chamber of horrors,is that correct?

I would say it is worth a visit. The planaterium has been updated, not sure if this is since '99.I found that enjoyable too.

TZMOM maybe it's just one of those tourist things you need to experience to say you've been::yes::

Can you book through Ticketmaster they are a very reliable company?

Hello again,

I've just had a look at the Tussauds website and I think I maybe confusing The Chamber of Horrors (which has been there for years) with The Chamber Live (which seems new). I can't work out if the new one has replaced the old one or if it's an extra. Here's a link to the site (which you've probably looked at anyway)

Note this brings up some fairly grusome pictures

We went this time last year (DH had never been before) The Chamber of Horrors is not exactly the same as the Chamber Live, in that you can walk through the Chamber of Horrors part and see a very limited amount of stuff, and then you have to give in your ticket before walking through the Live Chamber part, where you walk through a jail, and there are people that reach out and grab you, and jump out of shadows at you... It freaked me out, but it was amusing... suppose it depends on how easily scared you are... You have the option of refusing to walk through the live part, they don't recommend it at all for young children - it is WAY too scarey! I don't remember how much extra it costs, cause we paid for the planetarium and a guide book as well on top of everything else... was expensive though!

It sounds a bit like Halloween Horror Nights at Universal!;)

Thanks for your posts!!! You're right - I got my Chambers mixed up (Live vs. Horrors). I think we'll skip the Live portion as I do tend to get spooked - my family picked up on this and I continuously got jumped out at when coming home late at night.

Thanks again!!
