Is the Castle going to be re-decorated for the 35th Anniversary of WDW?

Seeing the castle for the first time on each visit is my most favorite thing! I have never been when it was decorated. I would have like to have seen the cake in person, just to see what it was like up close. To be honest if I didn't know any better, I probably wouldn't notice the differences that much with the current decorations. In pix the new decorations seem to blend well, and I have seen rumors that they won't be coming down at all!!

Wouldn't it be great if you went to the MK after your wedding to go take pictures and have toilet paper draped all over the castle. It's happened

We were there that day (it was my actual birthday) and while I was amused, I can imagine the people who only had one day were pretty upset by it.

For me it wasn't so much that the cake was pink with candies all over it -- I could handle that. It was that the castle would move in the wind as much of the add-ons were inflatable appliques. For something that has given the impression of stability it was weird to see it wave back and forth.

I di not like the cake. I do like the gold attatchments now. It definately adds some sparkle to Cindy's house. The cake was just---silly!

Count me in as someone who liked the "castle cake" as well. My wife and I were at the MK for one day on our way to a cruise. I thought it was pretty cool. :earsboy:

I dont know if they will do much for the 35th. I think the 30th went by without even a mention.

The 30th fell during the 100 Years of Magic celebration of Walt's 100th birthday, so almost all of the comemmorative items were for that celebration. I did manage to find one 'Walt Disney World at 30' t-shirt; oddly enough, it was in the gift shop outside the Walt Disney: One Man's Dream theater exit!

Although the "cake" decorated castle was not my favorite way to see the castle I really enjoyed seeing the side by side view! Thank you for posting. We did see it in person with younger children with us and I can't remember anyone loving it!

I do like the gold on the castle!

My family's last trip with my mom was during the "Castle Cake" time, and we were very startled by it. I remember how excited we were on the monorail, waiting for the moment when we'd first see the castle. And then we saw the big cake and we just froze - my brother was litterally speechless with shock (and for DB to be speechless is a minor miracle)! :teeth: I think mom was disappointed that she couldn't see the "real" castle.
DH and I were at WDW last May and saw the castle with the gold decorations, and I love that! Much, much better than the cake castle. I hope if they ever decorate the castle again they will do something that allows you to still see the actual castle itself like it is with the gold decor. I just love that moment when I step onto Main street and see the castle for the first time - it just feels like coming home again.

I almost cried when I saw that awful pink castle. If they do it again, and the first time Ariel sees the castle it looks so ugly, I most certainly will cry, and complain! Thats horrible :guilty: :earseek: :sad2: :rolleyes2 :crazy2:

That's the exact same way I got to see the cake castke for the first time. Waiting on the monerail to see the blue and gray castle with the gold top......and then all of the sudden I see this huge cake where the castle was supposed to be. It was horrible looking. I just don't understand what the Imagineers were thinking "Let's paint the castle pink and put cheap looking balloons shaped like candy on it?" THe caslte is like one of the main things everyone wants to see when they come to Disney World. Not a Cake. I really like the 50th decorations though. But I do think they should tkae them down when the celebration is over, at least the mirror.

I also like the feeling you get when you get off the momerail and walk into the magic kingdom and at the end on Main St. U.S.A. there's the castle.

Cake Schmake, bring back the "25 (35) years of Disney Magic" day parade. :jumping1:

Hmmm.... 35th anniversary? We should have the castle redone to look like it was made from jade (or coral), the traditional (modern) 35th wedding anniversary gift.

Please, Bicker, don't give them any ideas!!!!! :earseek:

Seeing as how long it takes to decorate it and take everything down, I think people are safe from it being decorated. We think the gold touches are nice right now.

The Pepto Cake!

Now THAT'S funny! :rotfl2:

I was thinking it reminded me of bridesmaids' dresses from the 1980's.

Would anyone have any diea why they have the mirror from Snow White on Cinderella's Castle. Don't get me wrong, I think the mirror is awsome, just wondering though.

We loved the cake. It was DD's first trip to WDW. I don't particularly like the 50th decor. It looks like Liberace's castle with all that gold.
