Hi All!

Planning on making an ADR for Whispering Canyon Cafe for dinner-can't wait to dig into that skillet!!!!

As for drinks...I know a beverages comes along with the dining plan credit, can I get the bottomless milkshake and have it count as my beverage for the meal?

A bottomless milkshake sounds too good to be true-is it good? what flavors does it come in?

Also...does anyone know how I can avoid making the waiters yell at us (I am sure its fun ha but my husband might be embarrassed by it!)....I know to avoid asking for ketchup....anything else?

:)

I have heard the milkshake does count although I have never been there (first time coming in September).

All reports say that the bottomless milkshake can be used as your DDP beverage, yes.

We've done the milkshakes before on the dining plan. It was one of my son's favorite things. That night they were offering blueberry shakes as their additional flavor. My son who is normally not all that into sweets went nuts for it. :thumbsup2

And really the antics weren't bad at all when we went, but it does depend on your server. The worst thing that happened to us was having napkins and straws tossed on us.

We loved Whispering Canyon!! Its one of the places my husband wants to go back to in Oct. The kids loved it as well. My son calls it the "crazy restaurant" :)

Not sure if the milkshakes are counted as a drink on the dining plan. We paid Out of pocket, BUT yes, there are bottomless!! My daughter drank two and the waitress even gave my kids a "to go" cup!

Try the cotton candy milkshake, sounds gross!!! but sooo good! And the caramel!! Very good!!!:thumbsup2

The waiters/waitresses don't really yell. It's more fun stuff like bringing you a lot of ketchup, BIG straws, etc. But I think they know who to "pick on".

I think your husband will be ok. THere is so much going on in the restaurant that nobody really pays attention to you.

We had a great experience :)

Have fun!

don't know about the milkshake question - but when we went in october our server was pretty low-key. we have some shy people in our family and no one was made to feel uncomfortable. the "worst" thing that happened during our meal (to tables around us, nothing really happened to us) was the ketchup thing, and then someone ordered a large soda and the waitress brought a coke in a glass the size of a small barrell. it was like a gallon of soda!

just an FYI that is slightly off-topic - the servers at 50s prime time are waaaayyy worse than the servers at wcc if you don't want to be embarassed!

The servers don't yell at you here. They do however, shout almost everything. They also throw straws. Now if you want the attention, wear your SpongeBob t-shirt or ask how to get to Universal.

:goodvibes I feel exactly the opposite! DH, a quiet retiring individual, enjoys the interactions with CM's at PT. We both absolutely hated the noise @ WCC. DD/DSIL/3 DGkids thought WCC was too chaotic. The novelty of kids being encouraged to runaround wore off quickly. We did have an awful server which didn't help and thought the food was so-so.

I know that WCC has a loyal following----just not my family:confused3

yes milkshakes are your drinks on DDP, and you can still order a dessert too!

you can also get different flavors of milkshakes. yum!

plus the skillet is HUGE and yummy! a great deal on the DDP.

Yes it can be your drink. My son had them. He drank 2 with dinner and the waiter brought him one to go at the end of the meal. He actually tried to refuse a 3rd one, which is why he brought him a to go one.

I recall chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and cotton candy. I think they have a flavor of the day, but not sure on that one.

YMMV....but my experience is that it's toned down a bit over the years. The first time it was pretty loud and lots of yelling for stuff. My son needs his ketchup and was looking forward to that part. The waiter had my son stand on his chair and yelled for the room to "listen up". He told my son to yell for ketchup. He got 32 bottles. :rotfl2: The 2 boys had a blast delivering all the ketchup to the other tables. We also asked for crayons, got a mountain of them. My mom got a giant straw and the table next to us got a giant Coke. One of the tables got a fork the size of a small human. The kids loved it. The food was decent.

Last time it seemed more subdued. Not quiet, but not as much fun. Didn't see near the antics we had in the past. The waitress did all the yelling for us. My kids kept trying to ask for things and we only got a few responses. 4 bottles of ketchup and they didn't get to deliver any. Asked for crayons......only got a few.

regards

Whispering Canyon Cafe was not an ADR that I was looking to make but after reading these review I was able to get a dinner rez for the night that we arrive. This places sounds right up our alley! Thanks for all of the info.

We try to go here every time we visit Disney! Our first visit in 2006 or 2007 was our favorite visit. DH got a smokehouse Ribeye steak (or maybe it was a Prime Rib) that he dreamt about afterwards. Unfortunately, they changed the menu after that visit and no longer have that steak.

We usually get the bottomless milkshake on DDP too! The first trip they had 6 different flavors but our last trip in Oct. 2009, they only had Vanilla, Strawberry & Chocolate. They may have flavors of the day or week but I don't remember one.

We always have loads of fun here and like the All You Can Eat skillet. We've always had great waiters too that are very accomodating....if my DS7 didn't like the salmon kids meal, he could pick a different one, no problem. Same with the shakes and no problem sharing the All You Can Eat Skillet with others at the table.

We do WCC every time. The shake is great, truly bottomless. Unfortunately, that can be a problem when you're trying to hammer the skillet. Shakes will fill you up fast.

I want to say that they had a cookies and cream flavor, too.

This is one of the ADRs that I made for our most recent trip that I made just because it was one of the few restaurants we had never tried. I had low expectations and thought DH would hate it but we were pleasantly surprised. Most of the the "teasing" seemed to be towards people who were egging it on a little bit. While it was loud, I definitely didn't feel like I had to talk loud to DH for him to hear me. In fact, DD started to sing Happy Birthday loudly by herself (copying the waiters from another table except 5 minutes later :lovestruc) andnobody even turned to look. So we kind of appreciated the accoustics in the restaurant.

Our waitress was excellent. When I was on the fence about the cotton candy milkshake I ordered the vanilla instead. The waitress brought the vanilla and a smaller version of the cotton candy also and said I could switch if I liked the cotton candy better. Another flavor offered that I haven't seen mentioned was orange creamsicle.

We will definitely make it back to this restaurant in our future travels.

When we were there last May, my daughter asked for sweet tea very sweetly and demurely, "May I please have some sweet tea?"
The waittress yelled back "No! Where do you think you are, the South or something?" Everyone within earshot laughed, even people who didn't hear what my daughter had said.
It is all in good fun laughing, although my daughter was a bit embarrassed.
But we were there at lunch, not too crowded, so not too much going on and really fairly quiet. Mid May, crowds at WDW still fairly low.

Who else has bottomless Milkshakes? I think I read somewhere does too?

My dd had a bubblegum flavour shake which was absolutely delicious. We had no antics aimed at us, it was so busy in there I don't think they had time.

I can vouch that the strawberry shakes are excellent but very filling - they have cream on top. After two and the skillet I needed rolling out of there - both times they have been happy to box dessert to go.

DH ordered a chocolate one last time we were there and the waitress told him if he was going to want another chocolate one, she would bring two because they were running out and wouldn't have any more later. So, I guess they are unlimited until they run out of the flavor you want. I just assumed they made them up as people ordered them but apparently the make them up in advance.
