Is the BCV laundry free and where is it?

Thanks for all the deleted replies. I did get to find out what I needed to know thanks to suscribing to this thread. I feel kind of silly now, we are getting DVC for the free laundry.......if we had only known.

Free laundry shaves off years on the break even point! LOL

I thought the room did require a card key to open it. But if there is someone else coming in or going out, you just have to wait for them to open the door. Kind of like the pool at VB.
Nope, no key required. We've done laundry at VWL, BCV, OKW and SSR and never needed a key to get into the laundry rooms. When we were at VWL in April, I walked in to change my clothes from the washer to the dryer and a lady was waiting for her husband to come back with change because the machines look like they take money. They were staying in the villas, so I explained the process to her. She had to tell her DH after scrounging around their villa for quarters that they didn't need them! The look on his face was priceless!

Which is exactly why I didn't disclose the location of the laundry, even though I knew it. People probably won't wander around looking for it. However, if they know where it is, how much more is it for them to roll their suitcase up to the FREE laundry rather the one that will cost them $4 per load?

There is really no reason for someone to know exactly where the laundry is until they get there. I would like to ask lisareniff to please edit her post and remove that information.

..... perhaps an armed guard at the door.

Key card is a great idea.

As for not posting the location on a thread - way too late for that! I have seen it posted so many times in the past that I could never count them all. How many times has anyone ever said where the OKW, BWV, VWL laundry facilities are etc etc. As a matter of fact, just check what AllEarsNet says about OKW - "However, air conditioned laundry rooms are available at ___________, at no charge."

I guess what I'm trying to say is, the cat is already way out of the laundry bag. :rolleyes1 :wave2:

Allears says where the laundry facilities are for the stand alone DVC resorts: SSR and OKW. If someone wants to drive over to OKW with their dirty laundry to save $10 ... :rotfl2:. As for the other resorts, Allears makes no mention of the location of the laundry rooms. Even if someone else has said something in the past, there is really no reason to repeat the information here :ssst: and I appreciate that lisareniff edited her post.

FWIW, I would prefer not to use a keycard to get into the laundry. First of all, I don't think that laundry abuse is rampant. Secondly, I will often run out of the room with the privacy lock in the door jam to swap loads, etc while my DH and DD stay in the room. It would be just my luck that I would be very far away from the laundry and then find the door locked! :charac2:

I know for sure SSR has Key card readers on their laundry rooms.

They lock them at night and you need to use your key to enter both the CP and Main pool laundry.

I locked myself out and had to call a CM to let me in at SSR last month. For me, I feel safer in a laundry room that locks, especially by myself.

BCV, VWL and BWV are different because they are inside. But Im glad SSR thought to do this.

Interesting. Not sure that will be of much benefit to SSR owners/guests, though.

IIRC, I read that the Spa Staff uses the free SSR guest laundry to do the SPA's laundry. I think I'd rather compete with the "frugals or cheaps" than with the SPA staff, LOL!

Best wishes -

P.S. Of course, my opinion should not carry any weight. I don't plan to stay at SSR and I don't do laundry at all unless the washer & dryer are already in the room! :teeth:

Just to clarify, I have only read about the Spa Staff doing laundry in 1 trip report in the 11/2 years SSR has been open. Maybe they had a breakdown and needed to use it temporarily while theirs was being replaced or fixed. I cant imagine them (SPA) not having laundry of their own, especially with the amount of towels, robes, etc. they go through and I cant see DVC having a long term agreement like that.

I've never had to compete with anyone while doing laundry at SSR. It has always been readily available, and I did laundry every 3 days during our 13 night stay last month.

I watched spa staff remove robes and other spa linens from both the washers and dryers when I was in the laundry room doing my clothes in June.
