Is the air conditioning still and issue at SSR?

We've never had an issue with the AC at SSR.

We did last year in October. It would not work if things were still. So in the middle of the night, it would go off and it would get really hot.

Here are the instructions I copied and took with us the last time we stayed at SSR. They work:

'Push the "power" button and the "down" arrow at the same time. "BP" (bypass) will come up. Set it for whatever temperature is wanted.
This may have to be repeated every 24 hours."

We didn't have to re-do them in 24 hours; I just can't recall how many days this lasted. :goodvibes

I heard on a podcast that a tethered balloon is enough to set off the motion sensor, if you have trouble disabling it.

Our AC is fine, we are at SSR at the moment, although perhaps it helps having the ceiling fan on all the time :confused3

Thanks Grammy. I just got home and looked for them, but I couldn't find them. Glad you had them. I think it lasts for 72 hours.

Im just back from BCV and I think they are on a motion sensor too. It kept resetting itself to the warmer temps.

I also thought it funny that the TV cut off at 5 am automatically:goodvibes

When we were at SSR in March and June, Maintenance overrode the sensor for us. He showed me how to do it, and was really nice about it:wizard:
In June we were having some other issues, so they came by and the same maintenance man offered to override our system again.:wizard: :wizard:

Hi all, thanks for the instructions, we are at SSR right now and so far every night the heat has awakened us every night . Will try those directions...don't have a balloon but where is the sensor, what does it look like we are in a studio. Thanks....Carol:goodvibes

We just got back, and even the bathroom fans seem to be on motion sensors!:goodvibes

Had a little trouble bypassing with those same directionns--it was hard to tell if we had it set or not, as after the "BP" screen it went to "--" not numbers. Either way, the warmest it got in the room while we were out was 76.

PS Hi Jim!:wave2:

we are heading out Tuesday, and this is my big fear.

I am bumping this up so i can find it when I am there.

I will be there in three weeks please keep me up to date

This is great info - only on the Dis!!! I have never been to a hotel where the AC was on motion sensors. Interesting...

Beach Club Villas definitely had the motion sensors last July. I didn't realize they were motion sensored, and asked maintenance - they showed me how to override it. They don't seem to have a problem with it. I also don't have a problem with Disney having them - it's expensive to AC an unoccupied room. Heck, if there is a simple way to return it to normal, I'd do it before leaving for the day.

No need to bump the thread. Since you are now subscribed to the thread (by posting on it - alternately you can subscribe without posting by going to Thread Tools and clicking "Subscribe to this thread"), you can find it again by coming to the DISboards, and clicking on "User CP". On the right side, you'll see a list of threads with new postings since the last time you came to the DISboards. If it doesn't appear there, click on "View all Subscribed Threads", and it should be in the list there.

The instructions really do work. It was great last year and right now, we set ours yesterday at 72, went to the parks and when we came back very early this morning and it was a nice 72 degrees in our villa.

Thanks for posting the instructions again! We were down in SSR July 4th weekend and I woke up a couple of times during the night because it was so hot. I would get up and jump around awhile to get the AC going again. Boy, does it get hot fast at night! I'm definitely bringing these instructions with us in August. I'm putting a copy in our Owners Locker so we'll never forget!:thumbsup2

It's a great idea to not bypass during the day if you're not there. Is there a simple way of un-bypassing (not a word, I know) the AC? Hate wasting electricity when we're not there to use it.

Now, if someone could tell me how to keep the fan in the bathroom on while taking a shower...besides opening the shower door and stepping out and waving my hands around like an idiot....:lmao:
