Is Thanksgiving week really THAT BAD crowd wise?

2007 is the last time Thanksgiving fell on the 22nd......my question to you, and I value you as a very insightful and encouraging poster....how will we be able to compare 2019 to 2018, even without SWGE. The point I am trying to make about Thanksgiving week is that has no numerical date and hence bounds and leaps all about the calendar, this year creating 8 extra days of " I can't celebrate until after Thanksgiving" . Next year, zero days!!! But the rumor will abound next year, based on a crowd calendar internet site that has no concept of history, that Thanksgiving rocked in 2018!!!!

When I look thru my Thanksgiving trip reports, which I started on 2007, 07 was a great trip, then the crowding began to creep in, as well as the parade taping, decor and activities. Then in 2014 the crowding peaked, as had been projected by AAA, folks where buying new cars coming out of the Bush rescission, it was a slow creep until the last two years when it became noticeable. But the fix is now in place with Maxpass and more folks using facebook and sites like this for trip planning, discovering, that if you don't have children in School, no family n Southern Cal, that visiting Disneyland can actually happen the week after Thanksgiving rather than the traditional 2019 Thanksgiving

Alas, I remember Thanksgiving 2001 and 2002, when Disney was paying us to visit Disneyland during Thanksgiving....so much for historical Thanksgiving visits

Actually, Thanksgiving fell on Nov 22 in 2012 also.

As for 2019, we have all been saying we cannot even try to compare from June on of 2019 to anything.

As for it crowds only becoming noticeable the last couple of years, I think most of us will disagree. We've done Disneyland at Thanksgiving most years since 1995. The kids have fun, and I like not having to clean up after Thanksgiving dinner. (We will have 15 for dinner this year!) I hope to enjoy fireworks after dinner.

The last time we had a Thanksgiving like the one we will have in 2018 was in 2007.....there is no history of how crowded 2018 will be and all planning can be thrown out the window!!!

The times have a changed since 2007....when I first encountered a profit-less business in 2007 named Amazon that lowered the profits of my day to day commercial pursuit of buying books at Goodwill and reselling them became a level field of knowledge had arrived when all that was needed to determine the value of a book was....... a hand held device to determine value.

Today, at Disneyland, any visit, is a great opportunity when all you need is a hand held device to schedule your attraction entrance and time in between to tour the holiday decor....all day long....and not even know it is crowded....unless you like waiting for Disneyland holiday sugar treats and encounter the good will of folks waiting with you for a parade!!!

Went 23rd-28th last year and we loved it. We thought the Monday and Tuesday after Thanksgiving were busier than the holiday weekend. We were able to get everything done that we wanted and never felt that the crowds were oppressive, unlike grad nights.

Last year we felt like it was busier than normal (but Thanksgiving day was not that bad) but it wasn’t as bad as when we went over Spring Break one year. However, saying that there were plenty of times we just walked on rides. My husband and son did pirates like 3 times in 20’minutes because there was no line one morning. My kids did splash mountain on their own logs a few times as well. The longest ride we ever wait for is Nemo everything else we just watch the app and when it’s low we go there.
