Is Teppan Edo okay for a four year old?

We are taking my daughter to WDW for a week to celebrate her fourth birthday. We are mostly eating in-room, but thought we'd have a couple meals out (Jiko for grown-ups only, Princess Breakfast (I hope) with just the nuclear family on her birthday) and we wanted one more with everyone together. The party will be my husband, my daughter, me, and her two aunties. I wondering if four years old is too young for Teppan Edo? Not on DDP.

My DD was four or five the first time she went and she loved it. She's a picky eater too.

Our last trip included 3 and 4 year olds. Both had a great time. It is almost as good as a character meal since the chef "entertains" during the meal prep. You just have to be careful that they don't touch the grill, but that wasn't a problem for us and one of our kids is not the best listener that way.

My four year old loved it!! They even set up the chopsticks for us so that they worked like tongs...and he ate all his food with them. For being a picky eater, I think it was the best (most nutricious)food he ate all trip!

The chefs are great entertainment, and for a four-year-old might be just what is needed. It can also be simple too -- rice, whatever veggies they might like, chicken or beef.

Our chef did a hilarious act with the onions and Mickey Mouse. Let's just say it loses a little bit in translation, but it really did make the evening.

I just booked an ADR there, and my 4 year old is coming along. i chose it because I think it will be entertaining for him, and good food for us. Most of the character meals are just ok food-wise. I also chose chef de france for Remy.

I've shown my DD clips of it on youtube so she knows what to expect.

Do some of the kids entrees (the tempura) still come on a plastic monorail?

As an auntie if this is "my meal" with my now four year old niece I'd want something more kid focused, more fun to celebrate her birthday. My vote would be for any of the following(not ranked):

1. Crystal Palace any meal
2. Hollywood and Vine character meal if she likes Playhouse Disney
3. 1900 Park Fare breakfast is she like Pooh, dinner if she's into Princesses
4. Coral Reef with the full wall aquarium if you need to be in Epcot
5. Storybook Princess meal in Epcot, includes a keepsake photopackage

For me this is all about my niece. She's four only once and I'm lucky enough to be there with her, let me see some magic. We can do Benihana any time. I've shared WDW with my nephew and consider those times to be priceless.

DD4 cannot wait to go back to Teppan Edo! She went when she was 2 and 3 and loved it. The chefs are very entertaining and during both of our experiences focused a lot of energy on the kids. I understand the Aunt point of view that you want a character meal because you are in WDW, but they do make a hidden mickey and BTMRR.

And don't flame me here.......but "Aunt" please remember that I think it is wonderful that you want the best experience for your niece, but don't force things on them and slam Teppan Edo as being "Benihana". Just be happy that you're getting this quality time and guide them in your suggestions, but let them plan their trip.

We had a trip a few years ago and my Mother decided to join us for a few days. She twisted all of our plans to meet hers and it ended in a HUGE blow out at Epcot. I was very upset that we allowed her to come during our vacation and my opinion during the time she was there was pushed to the side. So I only say the above because they are just plans, it's just a restaurant, your niece will have a good time with whatever you choose because it is all of you that will make it truly magical.

Teppan Edo is a definite stop for our next Disney trip (which is just currently in my dreams - but MAYBE next year???). My DDs were 6 & just shy of 3 when we went. I have to admit that I was worried I was going to regret our decision to dine there. It was our last night and my girls were worn out after a super fun day at Animal Kingdom. Our youngest was being uber-whiny...THEN our chef came out. BOTH girls were captivated! They LOVED both watching him and the scrumptious food! Like a PP stated - this is likely one of the healthiest meals your child will eat at Disney - no chicken nuggets here! I hope you choose it and HAVE A FABULOUS TRIP!!!
