And is it also worth getting up so early in the morning?

How great is the WOW factor on this Safari?

Will it be greater than the WHINE factor for getting up so early?

How up close are the animals?

What do we see that we can't see on animal channel or on Kilamanaro Safaris?

In other words, will I and the wife and kids say "We are SOO glad we did this?"

If we get into concierge, we would have to weigh this versus La Nouba and I must say I'm leaning towards La Nouba.

It's pretty much the same route as the Kilamanjaro Safari, only a lot slower and you have a guide pointing out all the animals, plus telling you lots as you go. Plus you have a pretty good breakfast afterwards at the Animal Kingdom.

I did it in late June, I thought it was worth it. It lasted probably an hour. We had an excellent guide. They make sure that all the animals are close up (by feeding them right on the route). Plus the breakfast is great!

How much does it cost?

Thanks

Yes, you have to get up REALLY early. But if you have ever tried to take pictures of the aniimals from a moving safari vehicle and got just the nose or tail, this is the trip for you. The vehicle stops all along the same route as the safari ride takes. There is plenty of time for animal watching and picture taking. And yes, they point out things on this trip that they do not tell you on the "normal" ride. One of them is that there are hidden feeders all along the route and the animals are encouraged to be out where people can see them by having treats to eat placed in those feeders (hollowed logs, etc.)

The breakfast is also very good, one of the better buffets at WDW I think.

If my choice was real animals for a people circus show, I'd pick the real animals every time.

I believe that it is about $60 per person.

I did it in May and I definitely thought it was worth it. But then again, I love to take pictures so I was in 7th heaven. If you follow the link in my signature for the "Concierge trip report", take the links to Day 4 and you can see some of my pictures. They were taken with my D300 DSLR and I was switching between my medium and long (up to 300 mm) range zoom lenses.

We did this in April 07. without a doubt worth the money. Cost is about 55. per person, do not remember exact cost. safari is the same route that you do in the park, but it is much longer, It is early (about 7AM), Not too hot, animals were all out & very active, even the lions were moving around. Biggest advantage is guide is an actual animal handler very informative. There is an excellent Breakfeast afterward. We would defintly do again, only drawback is you must be staying in club level room @ AKV

I think it might depend on how much you like animals. For us, it was definitely worth it. You pass through back stage areas on the way from AKL to AK and along the way your guide will point things out and talk about how they care for and protect the animals at AK and AKL. On the safari, they stop the vehicle frequently and give you lots of time to look, ask questions and take photos. The guide will provide background information on the animals that you see. Many of the animals will be quite close to the vehicle. We found it interesting and enjoyed the stories the guide shared with us along the way.

It's $55 per person and we loved it. We're going to do it again this May. The buffet at Pizzafari was excellent.

We did it years ago and it was so worth it. One very very sad point for us however, at the end when we looked to our dd to see how she enjoyed it, we found a not so thrilled child with all but tears in her eyes and she replied " It was really good..BUT I thought it was a real savannah!!!!!!! Ughhh, needless to say we have not done MK tour nor will we.;)
