Is St. John Worth Taking An Excursion To???

St. John is just the most Beautiful Island in the Caribbean. Lots of us wouldn't miss an excursion to St. John. You can go on an easy excursion Island Tour, a little more adventurous snorkeling trip or the more arduous Eco Hike. Do NOT miss St. John.

We spent a week on St. John for our Honeymoon, it is beautiful! We went snorkeling, rode mopeds to the other side of the island and went out on several boat rides. You wouldn't want to miss this island.

We chose a St. John excursion rather than stay at St. Thomas -- and we LOVED it. It is a truly beautiful and dreamy island. It is a National Park. The ferry ride over was fun because they showed us a lot of landmarks and pointed out all the celebrity houses on the cliffs (like Nelson Mandela and Michael Jordan).

The island tour was very informative and stopped at a lot of both historic sites and photo op sites. We saw a sugar plantation, wild mongoose, wild pigs, donkeys, resorts, beaches and shops. You can see the British Virgin Islands from there and the spot where Sir Francis Drake landed.

They took us to the highest point in the Virgin Islands for an overlook. What a view!

After the tour, they brought us back to the docks and we went into the shops and visitor's center/museum. They tell you when you have to be back on the ferry.

It was a great experience and would do it again. Next time, we will do the beach excursion. We thought it was worth it.

We got back by 12:30 and discovered that we probably could have easily booked the afternoon Atlantis Submarine excursion. We had lunch on the ship and then went back into St. Thomas. You have plenty of time to go into St. Thomas and visit the shops, etc.

To us, St. John was PARADISE. Castaway Cay isnt a patch on it! Scenery is breathtaking. Even better than Austria, which takes some beating! Nat

We also honeymooned in St. John. It is a true paradise. Don't miss it.

I just posted someone else, to someone else about St. John.

have not done this excursion (I went on the three day cruise in May) but I have been to St. John twice before and it is wonderful

it is much less populated than St. Thomas... It is quite and private yet there are enough people are around. I found it a perfect place to vacation!

The beaches are pristine and beautiful... most of it's area is not even built upon. I do not know where they take you from the ship but it is really only about 20 minutes from St. Thomas... they probably slow it down and give you historical information while taking you to the island.

When I stayed at St. John the first time and visited St. Thomas to go shopping, I only went once and the other times I returned to St. John I never went back to St. Thomas after getting to the island. They have enough shopping, jewels, restaurants, etc...

I think you will enjoy it... in my fantasy world where I don't have to work and send my kids to a good school, I move to St. John...

:wave2:

If you really want to enjoy St John and maximize your time on the island, rent a car and do your own excursion. Most of the DCL excursions only have 2 - 2.5 hours on the island.

Just make sure that you allow yourself plenty of time to retun to the Magic.
