I am really really wanting to try something different and my aunt raves about this place, however, I haven't read any good reviews lately and I am afraid to use one of my TS credits on something that I will end up being disappointed in? Any tips or advice would be great...
Thank you:thumbsup2

I just ate there two Friday's ago. The appetizers were wonderful. I loved them. I found the Lemon Garlic Shrimp Linguine to be over lemoned. (Unfortunately, we all ordered it.) However, the shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the pasta was done well also. The desserts were very good as well. We ordered the dessert sampler for two.

All in all, I loked the restaurant, the food was well prepared. The dish itself was just off. Don't let it sour you. (No, pun intended) ;)

Are the recent bad reviews a reflection of new managment? a new menu?

Spoodles has always been one of my favorites; I've never had a bad meal there...but then, my last trip was 2 years ago.

We had heard rave reviews and had to try it. We did not care for the food. Not because it wasn't good, but because it was a different style of food than we are used too. I think it is Meditteranean style, and we are plain food people. So I don't think it was bad, just not for us.

We were there in November 06 and absolutely loved it! We're going back there again for our upcoming Christmas vacation. I was even going to make two ADR's there, but we wanted to try some new placed.

We were there last August and loved it, but I understand there are some changes to the menu. We are going again this year. The sangria is good!

We just returned from a stay at BC and therefore walked over to Spoodles 3x for dinner. I got the shrimp dish 2x and the second time I figured out why I tasted so much lemon -- it was because there were actual lemon peelings mixed in with the linguine, and once I figured that out, I simply pulled out the lemon peelings. They were hard to notice because they blended right in with the linguine. Other than that, I enjoyed the meal. My other dinner was the steak kabobs and the steak was very, very tender and tasty, but I didn't care for the dressing or accompaniments. DH got the rigatoni 2x and enjoyed it. Before the meal, you get a basket of bread with oil and real olives cut up in the oil. Totally MY taste and I loved it! We did not have desserts there (probably overloaded on the bread and oil....).

From what I have heard and read there were changes with moving chefs around. Some worked, some didn't and I guess the new chef at Spoodles is disappointing some folks. Give it time. They'll change again if customers aren't happy. We haven't been to Spoodles in 3 years but had a great meal there then.

I ate there in May and really loved it. This was my first trip to Spoodles and it was excellent. I had the Margherita flat bread for my appertizer and the Cornish Game Hen for my entree. I didn't have any dessert because I was too full. I really enjoyed both the flatbread and the cornish hen! As another person posted the bread with the dipping sauce was awesome as long as you like olives (which I do!).

Wow, that's harsh. Where did you get this information?

Actually, It's a very good restaurant but really NOISY !!!! and we ate at 6. PM !
We were seated just closed to the window (so away from the middle) but there was a lot of noise in the room .......... !

I won't go any more even if it's good because after a day in the park with young kids I do appreciate to eat in a quiet atmosphere to relax a little bit.

For those who are not disturbed by the noise it's nevertheless a good restaurant (pasta hummmmm !!!!)

We dined there in May and enjoyed it very much. It has become a mustdo for our family when we are staying at BCVillas as of this last trip. Everyone enjoyed their meal and there was enough variety to please six adults.

As for the noise, we've only had one dinner there (out of only 4 or so so not a big sample) during which the noise bothered us. I'm not sure if there was an unusually loud group there that night or if possible some areas are noisier than others. If noise is an issue, perhaps ask for a quieter table?:confused3

I don't think they offer it anymore, but on one of my Disney trips a few years ago I had the Seafood Paella during lunch. It was one of the best dishes I EVER had.

We have eaten at Spoodles several times and enjoyed it. We have not been there since last year but have ADR for Sept. Hopefully we we enjoy it again. It's all about YOUR taste in foods. In April we had ADR's for Tony's at MK. A lot of negative reviews were given for this place too. We enjoyed it. It's just according to your tastes.

Enjoy!

Our first ADR for our very first trip to WDW is at Spoodles -- the menu looks great and it's close to where we're staying. We have a 5:00pm reservation so hopefully it'll be less crowded and less noisy. I'm really looking forward to this meal :goodvibes . Dsnygirl2006, I say if the menu looks good to you, go for it! For every bad review you'll find a good one, and visa versa.

I have to agree about your statement there. I've spent hours pouring over reviews for every restaurant that sounded good to us. While Le Cellier is everyone's must do restaurant, it just didn't appeal to us. We're not heavy meat eaters, the soup looks way too rich for our tastes...so we skipped it. Then I found myself wondering if I should make a ressie in case I was missing out on something fabulous, but in the end I have to admit to myself that it's probably just not for us.

I think the 2 of you have the right Idea!!:wizard:

Yes, its nice to go on the DIS Boards and check out what folks are saying about this and that, but don't let it be your number 1 factor in choosing a restaurant. Everyone has different tastes and everyone like different things. What works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another. You need to experience it for yourself to formulate an opinion.

As for the Chefs changing around....that is a rumor. Spoodles has had the same chef for months now! I could be wrong, but I believe it's been close to a year! The Flying Fish has gone through lots of new management and chefs. Maybe your confused. :confused3

We loved Spoodles and wouldn't hesitate to go again. Take all opinions with a grain of salt.

We go to Spoodles once every trip and have never had a bad meal, although the menu seems to have gotten smaller over the years.

We're going again this Aug and are really looking forward to it. We love the food and we've always had great servers too!

Spoodles was our favorite. Out of the nine that we went to last year, Spoodles was the only must have for 2007.

Nummy, we all raved over everything we all ordered. The flat bread appetizer and the Pita bread appetizer were sooooo good. And the gelato for dessert. And the bread and oil, and the beef entrees. And the service... Everything was great.
