We have a party of 5 - if half of us want to do an adr at one restaurant and half at another can you do that? I mean will the system let you book it since they will be close together in time?

Sure! You'll just need to indicate who is dining on the ressie. We split a group of 7 for our November trip without an issue.

For each reservation, the person whose credit card guarantees the reservation needs to actually show up. So each reservation needs to have this person identified. It is not necessary to identify the other people. If you don't list their names, they will be called Guest Two, Guest Three, etc.

Because of that, the system won't let you book two ADRs close in time unless you use two different MDE accounts. For example, I once booked CP for me and DD4 with my personal MDE account and BOG for DH and DD7 with DH MDE account.

We did it a lot when 7 of us went.
We did not need 2 MDE accounts. I was the only one that had one.
Someone different just had to listed as the lead person on that ADR.
It was easy.
I think we did 5 or 6 ressies that way. DH lead one, DDIL lead a couple, etc.
If you have the same person listed as the lead, it will not let you book at the same time
