Is Spiderman the best simulator ride ever or what??

IMO, I would consider Spider-man a dark ride on steroids, and not a simulator. Sure, the ride vehicle moves in similar ways to a simulator ride (Star Tours, Simpsons, etc.), but the track pushes it to dark ride territory for me.

As for DarkCastle at BG Williamsburg, it tries so hard to be Spider-man but falls short because the story is a jumbled mess that makes no sense at all and is near impossible to follow.

Prefaced to say I have never been to Universal or IOA but plan to next summer....

So I take it Spiderman is NOT a roller Coaster? I did do Darkastle at BG this June and Like someone mentioned it was good not great. I really couldn't understand much of that was being said during the story so I did find it hard to follow. Anyway, I am not a coaster rider. Laugh but I have a genuine phobia of coasters and sharp drops (ie I will not ride ToT and Splash Mt makes me cry and shake so bad I could barely get out of the boat at the end). I can do Star Tours, Loved body Wars, when that was open and as I said rode Darkastle with out issue. Knowing what I just mentioned is Spiderman something I should skip or would I be OK?

If you can handle DarkCastle, you should be ok with Spider-man. The ride system is fairly similar (car that moves like a simulator moves on a track from room to room (each room features 3D screens)). Spider-man is much easier to follow though.

We went to BG for this summer's vacation. Dark Castle is a poor man's version of Spidey. It was OK, but Spidey is soooooo much better

You probably have the info you need already, but Spiderman is definitely NOT a roller coaster. I wouldn't exactly call it a simulator ride either, not sure why some are. It interacts large 3-D screens with live real action. Such as one character shoots a fireball at you that turns into a real fire ball, (sort of) when real fire hits a wall etc. To me that is not a simulator. To me a total simulator is a car that just sits in front of 1 static video screen and it moves up and down with the 1 screen. Spiderman moves from room to room and interacts with much scenery that is worked into the 3-D video screens. The end part is more simulator-esque but I love Spiderman, don't typically like pure simulators like the old Back to the Future ride, which I did not like that at all.

Spiderman is totally different IMO to a typical "simulator." Much better and not the same animal really. Hope all that rambling helps. :rotfl:

Simpsons due in part to my demented senseless humor.
Dinosaur at AK is pretty cool as well.
Spidey is good too.
The line between rides and simulators is blurring ala RRR etc with rides incorperating visual elements and similators incorporating linear motion. Not that we mind:banana:

It is one of my favorite rides there. I was my favorite last year hands down since I was too chicken to ride anything else. BUT this year I think Hulk and dueling dragons are my favorite. BUT I do like Spiderman better than the Simpsons.
