Is something wrong with me???

I agree; there's nothing girly about me, but don't generally feel the need to justify or ask others for approval. I responded to thread though, cuz it's kinda nice to meet people that you have a lot in common with.

The so-called gender-specific activities and interests....are they really mutually exclusive? Ultimately, I don't get the need to say we are or we aren't feminine or masculine. What's the big deal either way?

As so many have said we're all a happy mix of interests and preferences and to quote another pop icon, "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough and, gosh darn it, people like me." :love2:

Your list sounds a lot like me.
Except I don't drink alcohol.
Dr. Pepper is my poison. :drinking1
I like boxing.
I don't even own a dress or make up & I don't care.
I'm a Maintenance technician.
My husband once told me to be more feminine. princess:
So I flashed him, he just shook his head. :rotfl2:

It's not a big deal. But when you spend your whole life not really being able to relate at all to most other women, and when people act shocked to hear that you [insert non-girly thing here] or that you don't like to shop, dress up etc. and when people close to you (my mom, for instance) routinely make comments about how you SHOULD act girly, or should NOT [insert non girly activity], you seek out other people who have the same issues.

*shrug* I have yet to encounter anyone that hasn't have some sort of Mother issues in regards to how they dress, look, or interests. That includes my "butchiest" friend to my "so girly we call her Paris" sister.

I guess I just never understood the need to announce myself as a tomboy or as a girly girl. We all have a little of both somewhere down deep in all of us and I personally feel that proclamations like the OP are digs at the other end of the spectrum. Like Serena said, it's our differences that make us interesting.

Well, I can't speak for the OP, but I have no intention of digging at the other end. I really could care less what other people do. I just like meeting other women who have the same interests, or also don't like shopping, makeup etc.

My best friend is the most girly girl I know.

That's how I felt too.

And - to totally throw this all out of what...I call my BROTHER "Paris".

heheheh

Are you my mommy? :rotfl2:
Seriously..I'm the same way. I see an expensive purse and go WHY would anybody want to spend that much money on those silly things when they'll be 'out of style' in a year or so?

hey...I drive a truck, love things like Bobcats and any heavy hydrolic equipment....I ride motorcycles, I hunt and fish....and love all the "toys" snowmobliles etc...so your not alone here!! but I am also a hairdresser...so I guess I like a bit of both!

oh ya, I can also build a house and I love power tools! I would also rather watch some "freestyle" dirt biking then watch a "chickflick"

but you might also catch me four wheeling in heels:)!!

I love to do both!

Sorry if anybody felt my original post was a "dig" at the girly posts... that's not what I meant to convey... I just wanted to point out that most of the posts by women on the CB I feel no connection to... it all seems to be things I don't care about. I don't post much anymore for this reason.
To each his own, I agree. But I am happy to find out that I am not alone here on this board. I have enjoyed every single person's imput. Thanks! :sunny:
