Is something wrong with me???

so are those of us that do care about that stuff the freaks? the shallow ones?

no...we're all individuals, we all like our own things...no one is abnormal

Nope, nothing wrong with you at all!

Nor is there anything wrong wth people who care about those things you mentioned you disliked. Most of us are a potpourri and not some sterotype of what women are "supposed" to be.

Different strokes! :)

No, not at all.

It's just then when you don't act girly, people have a tendency to act like you are very, very strange. My mom constantly gives me grief over it.

EsmeraldaX, I am going to have to find and read that post of yours....

and I guess I can point the finger to my Dad, who after I was born decided since he didn't get a son to make me his "boy". I was dd#4. Good and bad I guess but I did learn to pitch and catch a ball and fish. He also taught me to build and repair things and be self sufficent, but taught me to enjoy the arts too. I played with dump trucks and cars he bought me plus my older sister's barbie dolls. I ran down the barbies with the trucks ..lol!
I can "glam up" if I have to, but I sure don't enjoy it.

My mother was always distant and depressed and very judgemental when I was growing up so maybe I just learned to feel more comfortable around men.

My mom used to try to get me to be more girly because she thought that if I was girlier I was going to turn out gay!

I got that from a lot of people growing up. Just because I don't wear a skirt and high heels I'm suddenly a lesbian! :rotfl2:

"Stinkerbelle's a freak...Stinkerbelles a freak..." :teeth: j/k, of course! We all are different! Thank Goodness! The world would not be nearly as interesting!

OP, I am just not good at any of the make-up stuff. Wish I was. All shoes complain on my big feet, and my nails crack at a glance. I am a romantic and dreamer at heart. I am a reader, and love that my boys are too! Can't stand the stooges, but love the old westerns.

A Princess some days...an evil Queen on the others!

:scared1: OMG I have a twin !!! I agree with everything you said except liking war movies and the whiskey and guiness ( I would replace simply with Lite beer and some tequilla ) !! how scary is that !?
Wel...you may not be a girly, girly...but we have something in common!!!!

I always thought I was a "tom-boy" because I can fix my own sprinklers, repair most electrical problems, test and balance an air conditioning system, fix a plumbing problem, etc...but get me near a mall, Target or Ebay and I melt....I also love shoes, purses and clothes. I get a facial, manicure and pedicure every 2 weeks and a massage once a month...I am a hopeless girl!

Stinkerbelle, come over here and be a freak with me, where we treasure manis, pedis, Coach, Nine West, Banana Republic, MAC, bebe, and anything that seems to say, I am girly, hear me roar! :)

Mine was just worried I wouldn't find a man.

Ironically, because I like a lot of things guys do, I have a lot of guy friends...

I don't know why non-girly girls feel the need to justify their non-girly girliness? :confused3 There're tons and tons of gals out there breaking the mold! :cheer2:

I'm a mixed bag of the above-I like high heels but I also like power tools. :earboy2:
I agree; there's nothing girly about me, but don't generally feel the need to justify or ask others for approval. I responded to thread though, cuz it's kinda nice to meet people that you have a lot in common with.

Hmm where does that leave me? I am a girlie girl tomboy. :rotfl2: ;)

I got the new Coach catalog in the mail the other day.
DH just rolled his eyes.

:)

I'm not a super girly girl...but I like my makeup (I could spend hours in Sephora), accessories, clothes, shoes (not pointed ones though - just haven't found the right pair yet that doesn't make me look like I war a size 14), and yes, I rather read allure or glamour over the newspaper.

some people might call that shallow. oh well

You can also be a girly girl and enjoy things that are considered "guy" things.
I'm very girly but am not a shoe person, purse purse, or romance novel person - that's the great thing about individuality. I can be giddy at Sephora and also get excited over the new issue of Handyman magazine.

::yes:: Isn't is grand to have the choice we have lliving in this era?!

As long as I have enough clothes to get me through 7 - 10 days at work before rotation, I'm happy.

A JCPenney handbag makes me just as happy as any Coach bag would.

Walmart or Target has all the makeup I could ever want. Don't need high priced paint!

Cocoa butter works great on my face. No $50 cream needed here.

Hair Cuttery hair cuts suit me just fine. Loreal #7BB works instead of high priced salon dye jobs.

Whatever jeans fit best, are the ones I buy - as long as they are on sale! No designer tag necessary.

Love to skeet shoot. Love to hike.

Enjoy a little Nascar, football, baseball with the ole' DH.

Love weekends on the 4-wheeler going through the mountain.

But, I can still glam up when I need to. To me, life's too short to worry about all the trimmings.

Aah, right there you've hit it. To me, it's all of the little trimmings that make life so sweetly beautiful.

"It's a good thing"

I could be your twin too (or triplet?), but I love Martha. And I have a cell phone.

Ah, but see, it's the differences that make us all so interesting. And why men will never figure us out. We are all special in our own way. :grouphug:

rofl. I so totally agree with you. Except that I DO like to shop, only its not the shopping part that I enjoy lol. That make sense? To me, shopping is a social thing not a "buy the coolest thing" thing.
