I am curious about Soarin' at Epcot. We have a 4 3/4 DD and a 1yr DD. Are there any age requirements for this ride? I have never seen the ride before?
Looks like a great time!!! pixiedust:

There is a very strict 40 inch limit. It is a not to be missed ride for anyone over 40 inches. Use baby swap and ride it you will love it.

have to be 40" tall to ride the ride so doubt your youngest will be able to ride it.

Yup, the previous posters are correct, 40 inch height requirement. Definitely do the baby swap. This is the only ride we do the baby swap for because it is so spectacular. I'd have to say it is my all time favorite ride.

It's a fabulous ride. My DS who was fearful on alot of other rides, even he really loved it. But yes, they are very strict about the 40" restriction. They pulled a child out of the waiting area for the ride even though he'd already been measured and they remeasured him and wouldn't let him on.

I measured my DD4 3/4, and she is 41 1/2 inches. Hopefully they will let her on. Not sure if they have a different measuring tool. I would hate to see her pulled aside and remeasured. thanx for the tip!!

Both my DS4 and my DN4 went on it last summer. Sat in 1st row (40 ft. up), and loved it. Not to be missed. :thumbsup2

We took DS5 on it for the first time last weekend and he LOVED it. It was a little scary being on the 1st Row (40' up), but he wanted to go again. It is good for the whole family providing that they are within the height requirement. Definitely a ride to pickup a FastPass for. And don't forget to make Priority Seating reservations at The Garden Grille upstairs, they have an excellent Character Lunch/Dinner.

Now for the stupid question, what is this ride? I'm new here and haven't been to Disney for a few years so I'm not familiar with it.

I just wanted to add that even though, as I previously posted, it is a fantastic ride, my just turned 3 year old was frightened on it. We still don't know why. Perhaps he has a fear of heights, I don't know. We couldn't figure it out. Maybe it was just too realistic for him. He went on the first time but that was enough for him. My 5 year old LOVED it though and I'm hoping my DS will be over his fears this summer when we go back. He did fine last year on splash mountain and BTRR but soarin freaked him out. Go figure. :confused3

My kids loved this ride also...I however, got a little sick. I am prone to sickness, but read every post here about this ride beforehand. It just goes to show you that everyone's experience is unique and you'll never know unless you try it!
That being said, my dd 4 adored this ride, but she never gets scared. My ds 6 who gets scared on everything even loved Soarin. For the poster who didn't know what kind of ride this is, it's a simulated flying ride where you sit in front of a screen that has various settings like the desert or over water, or my favorite, the fireworks at the MK.
I do recommend that you sit in the second or third row if you are a little apprehensive, like me. I think I would have been even sicker if I had been up any higher!

hang-glide over sites in California. The ride lifts you up in the air, then there is an IMAX type movie (round screen) that takes you over things like a gorge where people are kayaking, an orange grove, flying with the Blue Angels, etc. Along with sights and the flying sensation, there are scents...you start in a mist, then there are things like pine and orange scents.

We rode this 4 times last May at CA. It was our families favorite ride by far! My boys were just barely 4 and almost 10 at the time...and they both loved it!

If I lived in Southern CA or the Orlando area we'd get APs just to go ride Soarin', lol!!!

Why the height restrictions if it's simulated?
Because you rise about 40ft in the air( at least the first row is ) I spoke with my DSIL this afternoon and she told me that she was in the first row and suspended 40 ft and other rows go down from there! She went to the one in Disneyland Cal. and highly recommended this ride. You are strapped in by a seatbelt and the ride simulates you soaring through the air over oceans, trees , mountains, fireworks etc...... That's what she experienced!:bitelip:

Thanx everyone for the helpful tips!!Can't wait to try this ride!!!! See you around!! :thumbsup2
