We were at DL in March and I was so bummed that Small World was closed. We're going back in September for DS 50th BD celebration and it's still marked as being closed then!:sad1:

And now DL website says that Haunted Mansion will be closed too.

Oh well, I guess we'll have to plan another DL trip next year.

The It's a small world ride will re-open for the Christmas season. They needed to do some major work on it, so it has been closed since early this year.

The Haunted Mansion always closes in Sept. so that it can be decorated for the Halloween Season.

Hope that helps.:goodvibes

I miss small world. I only went on it once june 2007.

Normally, It's a Small World reopens in November, and Haunted Mansion Holiday opens in October, so if you would like to visit both while they're open, visit in November. :flower:

I didn't know they closed HM every year. Thanks for the tip! Now I know to not go during September. Hmm, wait till October...that sounds like fun. Next year. Darn DS for being born in September!

It's only closed for three weeks (HM). Will be open until the 8th, and open a few weeks later, so this year it's not all of September at all.

And remember, Disneyland doesn't care if it's the *actual* birthday, just that you're celebrating a birthday! :goodvibes

I miss Small World too.....I'm not looking forward to the reported additions and subtractions (supposedly they took out the rainforests and are putting in a "yay America" section...helllllo, we're IN America, we're surrounded by "yay America"!... way to diminish the "we're all one" aspect of the ride!) but I have always loved the song and it's so relaxing for me. :goodvibes

well like everyone else is saying, haunted mansion is decorating for halloween, and its a small world doesnt open til late november, so if you wanna book a trip and have both open, i would wait until december to be on the safe side.

Too many decisions! Do we want to go and see the Halloween decorations, or the Christmas? Or both!

I get this feeling we will be back. Next year. I have promised DS we're going to Disneyland for her 50th! That's what I love about my sister. She picks one of my favorite places in the world to celebrate. I can't say no to DL.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I've been to WDW a bunch of times but only once to DL, so I'm a relative newbie. I appreciate the help.

We always go in November as the holiday overlay is up on both HM and IASW. Plus the entire park is holidayed up. FABULOUS!!!

I think November would be the best time to go (not on any holiday three day weekends or Thanksgiving time though). That way you get to see both the HM overlay and IASW. Next time we do a trip at the end of the year, it's gonna be November! Which is my Birthday anyway, yeah! LOL
