Is Shula's worth the money?

We are thinking about trying it out. My husband is a football nut! Thank for any feedback.

Yes, it is fabulous. I tried it on my last visit on the advice of many here, especially Eeyore2U (the resident Shula's expert).
The only thing that I did not care for was the rather LARGE picture of Don Shula on the wall. It looked rather ostentatious.
I think you'll like it....

We did not enjoy Shula's when we were there in December. Our steak was tough and very dry, and we did not like the $10.00 extra fee for spliting the steak. We would much rather have a steak at Jiko's or Le Celliers. Two Thumbs Down....

While we had an excellent meal at Shulas and did not get charged a split charge--although we also had appetizers, sides, dessert, and alcohol), I would rather go to Jiko.

IMHO, for the money there is no better steak. I have yet to have one anywhere. It is no more expensive then YSH if order right. The key is to split sides and apps. The portions are huge. The waitstaff incredible. The steak is as I said, the best I've had. And this is from someone who only eats streaks.

But, as Eeyore2U has said, you've got to "order right".

Personally, I've had steaks just as good as at Shula's... but not many.:)

What really sets Shula's apart is the service !!!! I haven't had that kind of service since my honeymoon cruise 15 years ago. Those guys bring serving food to an art form.... which is what it should be. I think they knew what I wanted before I did myself. Very attentive. Very "old school". Love that. :D

They work in pairs, and Damien was superb, as well as his second, Jamie. The entire time, I kept thinking, (and even said aloud to my DH), "Now this is how it should be" It was the first time in a very long time that I can say I was a cheerful, willing tipper:eek:

The food was outstanding, but it wasn't just about good food. The service was impeccable. It wasn't just fine dining; it was an event.:)

I got engaged there last year. The steak was fantastic and we enjoyed a nice bottle of wine and split a potatoe pancake. We were given 2 creme brulee's to celebrate and were not charged.
The service there is top notch.

Another vote for Shula's! DH and I ate there last Jan. for the first time, it was wonderful! DH is a Chef and is not easily pleased, he was impressed w/ the food quality and excellent service. If you love a good steak, this the place to go. Also, if you like dessert, the chocolate souffle' is to die for.
Enjoy!

I was disappointed with Shula's. The steak, while huge and tender, was quite bland. It was probably the least impressive prime steak I've had. The baked potato was as big as a pineapple but was less than hot and not a very flavorful variety. I find the whole football menu thing and the exhausting presentation of the food to be pretty tiresome too--though certainly these antics are common in these upscale steakhouses. Just give me a menu to read and I'll order from it, thanks.

Perhaps I hit it on an off night, but I'm not eager to go back. I'd much rather spend a little less money and get a MUCH better steak at Charley's in Kissimmee, and tell them to skip the presentation tray. :) I've never had a subpar meal there and recommend it to anyone looking for an offsite steak place.

We dined at Shula's last November and LOVED it! Best steakhouse in Disney. We are going back on May 17. Can't wait!

I personally, much more prefer the seared NY strip steak at Flying Fish to the steak I have had at Shulas. The beef I have had at Shulas was very good but the seared NY strip steaks at FF are always out of this world! Shula's waitstaff is very efficient but a bit stuffy and the restaurant has a very dark, men's club atmosphere which I do not care for. I am not even going to touch on how absurd I find the football menu, LOL!! I absolutely love Shula's oysters rockfeller, they are the among the best I have ever eaten. As for the price difference between Shula's and Disney high scale restaurants, Shula's is slightly higher due to not including side dishes but the difference is not that much. Enjoy your meal at which ever restaurant you choose!!

We dined at Shula's in early March, and although our food was out of this world, we had a slightly "off" night. We waited a long, long time to order our food because our main waiter got a 15 person table right after us. They all ordered appetizers, bottles of wine, cocktails, etc....it was easily going to be a $1,500-2,000 tab. Our waiter did apologize for the wait, but we sat there with our drinks and nothing else for at least 15 minutes- not good. But once we placed our order, everything was fantastic. Our co-waiter Aleks was top-notch- wonderfully attentive (he brought the food, cleared the food, refilled our water, etc) and the food was out of this world. Very delicious- one of the best steaks I have ever had. (I had the filet) And I had the potato skins- oh my- these were gargantuous and so yummy.
