Hi

Am struggling to pick a TS/nice place for lunch at HS (I miss saying MGM!) with DH and our DD who will be 14 months. We'd love to try Sci-Fi but I don't want to scare poor Matilda if its too dark or scary.

Have any of you been with 1 year olds? Would you recommend it?

Thanks :goodvibes

There is not much lighting, the clips kept re-running, I personally did not enjoy them , but we had a 3yr old there & she was fine, it didnt entertain her & didnt scare her either, the car atmosphere was a highlight...I think it might be hard w/ one that little, you will probably get stuck w/ her on your lap & thats not fun for anyone!

I to am not a fan of SciFi... the milkshakes are nice... but nothing else really stood out for me and honestly the movies didn't do much for me either..... we chose to eat at Mama Melrose when at DHS.... we used to go to H&V but honestly their food isn't that great either.... and I don't want to shell out as much as they want for Brwon Derby so Mama Melrose works for us... we have had some very nice meals there....

We have been three times with small children.. They were ages 14 months, 2 years, and up... They were so well behaved each time we have visited because they were amazed by the movies.... At no time were they "afraid" of the dark or anything else for that matter....

We love Sci-Fi... The food is simple and the menu is not the biggest and it is not fancy... But we have always had a good meal there... We stick with the simple things like burgers, chicken sandwichs, and the spinach dip... The milkshakes are REALLY good...

It is worth the experience of going at least once... In our case, it is a must do... The kids really enjoy it...

ONE SUGGESTION: You may want to get a car "table" instead of a car with a small child... It worked well for us because we could get a high chair at the car table and because we could face each other/ sit next to each other... The cars have you divided and there is no room for a high chair (only a booster)... We had a great time in the table.

The atmosphere inside the Sci Fi is almost exactly as it would be at a drive in. Down to the stars on the ceiling. Can your child handle being outside at night? That's what it'll be like inside the building. A bit brighter but not that much.

When I saw the title of this thread, I immediately thought "a toddler? Sci Fi is too dark for an adult!". Seriously, you might want to take a small pen light to read the menu.

We took our DD to the Sci-fi when she was 9 months, 14 months and 2 1/2 yrs and she was good each time - very entertained by the movies.

PS. The burgers and the spinach and articoke dip are really good!
