Is Sci-Fi a good experience?

I switched all my reservations to July and the only ones I haven't done yet are for MGM. We went to 50's Prime Time and everyone liked it for the most part but We were intrigued by Sci-Fi but I'm trying to decide which one. Sci-Fi looks pretty cool but the menu just looks like my friends & I would be ordering burgers. Is it a cool atmosphere enough to go & order burgers? lol

I think you're going to get mixed reviews on this one, lol. As for food, I also think this depends on what you order. Burgers and shakes seem to be the best, or at least what get the best reviews. Personally, we've never had a problem with our food. It's actually the one place we always eat at when at WDW. The atmosphere is definitely worth it, as long as there's something you'd eat. It sounds like your group would be ok with burgers, but don't go if you can't find anything on the menu. :)

We ate at Table service restaurants each day on our weeks stay last summer and the Sci Fi was the most dissapointing for me, the food was medium to poor, the lighting was so low that it was hard to see the menu and the food and the films were just very short clips on a short continuous loop. I would not rush to go again.

We thought Sci-Fi was really cool. :3dglasses My dad was particularly impressed with the theming and while we were eating asked why we'd never tried it there before!
I think the food is what it is - good quality diner food (ie burger, sandwiches etc). I don't think I'd go there if I wanted steak but I can definitely recommend the food we ate - particularly the BLT soup which was gorgeous - one of the best soups we've tasted!
It's a really fun place aswell - we were in the car of the day and got free Crackerjacks which was a really nice touch and the "driving licences" are hilarious! :rotfl2:
We're definitely going again on our next trip!

We loved it. I had the chicken sandwich. It was very tasty:thumbsup2

It was a fun experience, but we didn't like the food either. We haven't been back.

Sci-Fi seems to be a love it or hate it place. The atmosphere is very unique and something you will not find outside of WDW. The food is average at best, but for me, its still worth the trip.

I'd say since you've never done it before, to try it. That being said, we went once, and we won't be back. We were just a party of two and didn't like being stuck as the hitchhikers in the back of a car that was full of fairly loud family members. It felt like we were intruding on their meal! The food was okay. I think to appreciate the film clips, you need to really like sci fi movies.

I liked the atmosphere but it was not worth the drawbacks. First we waited for the an hour for our ADR (this was the longest wait we have ever had). The food was alright but I could have gotten the same stuff at a TGI Fridays. And even though the atmosphere is cool, it was a pain to keep turning over my shoulder to talk to the rest of my fam. Plus the theme got old after a few min because the movie loop played through at least 3 times while we were there. Overall the themeing could not overcome this and we have ebcome loyal to the 50s cafe, however I dont want someone to take this review as a dont go, approach because I know it sounds bad, but it was neat to do once.

Love it! We eat here each trip. The atmosphere is what really draws us in. We laugh at a lot of the clips, DH & I enjoy having a seat to ourselves in a car, the food isn't bad...we like diner food. The movie loop just began it's 2nd round while we were there last time.

I see, thanks :thumbsup2 The only thing that I noticed that we wouldn't be fond of is the hitchhiker thing. There's 4 of us going there but we're going at different times. My friend & I are going earlier since we're doing the fantamic dinner later that night, while the other 2 aren't doing fantasmic so they're going later on. Are my friend & I gonna have to sit w/ another group? We'd prefer to have a car to ourselves so I'm wondering if that will be a prob :confused3

My 2 cents - we've eaten at Sci-Fi three times and really enjoy the atmosphere. If you are a party of three or more, you will likely not be facing each other so keep this in mind if you plan on doing a lot of socializing with your party. Keeping with the recent Disney tradition, the food and service are inconsistant and unpredictable. I say you should try it once just to experience the atmosphere, maybe try it for lunch so it will cheaper and less of a waste if you dislike it.

DH & I thought it was fun. The clips of sci-fi movies they showed reminded me of MST3K (and I am sure we made some Joel-Tom Servo-Crooooooow type comments that I can't remember now). We had burgers, onion rings, and shakes and the food was good. Overall, I thought it was a really fun experience.

The food is pretty standard bar/pub fare.
The setting is, in a word, unique.
The price is a fair value.

It's on our short list of places we'd like visit again.

My whole family enjoyed the place!! We had great service and the food was really good. We all got different things too!!
