We're going to San Diego over Presidents Day weekend and I was wondering if the weather is too cold to go to the beach? We have a 4-year-old and 19-month-old. They wouldn't be going in the water just running around/digging in the sand.:beach: We live in AZ so we're used to being warm! Thanks!

We had 80 degree weather over the weekend...you could have 80 degree days or 60 degree days!!

As long as you include a jacket if it is cool and windy, the beaches should be doable. The water is COLD this time of year!!!

Have fun!!

Well the water is always cold relative to the temperatures on the shores... it just takes a hot day to let you get out and feel warm but I digress.

Weather this time of year isn't suppose to be "warm" or beach friendly but it often is and even when it's cool it can be a great sunny day to hang out on the beach, jackets and all. I would suggest checking the weather report the week of your trip... not that they're ever right but at least you'll get a sense if it's worth lugging out beach towels and play toys or umbrellas. If it is slated to be nice (or not terrible) be sure to bring a jacket as Amy said... it can be 70-80 all day long then drop to 50 in the evening especially given the coastal winds.

Each year we USUALLY have a spate of warm weather in January & February. This last week, the temperature has been in the high 70's at the beaches. I was driving along Torrance/Redondo Beach yesterday, and there were surfers in the water (brrr), and people playing on the sand.

Today the weather was a little bit cooler, but still nice enough to go to the beach. This weekend it's supposed to be a little rainy.

When you come in February we MIGHT have nice weather, and we MIGHT be having a cold spell. If you're in luck, and you get the nice weather, it will be fine for your children to play on the beach & shore. :sunny:

It is usually way too cold to get your feet wet and it will be overcast.
I wouldnt plan on much sitting at the beach.
