Is refillable mug worth it for 4 nights?

We will be splittling our stay 4 nights each Poly and CBR is it worth it to by mugs at both resorts? I think I will take my own coffee and ask for a coffeemaker (CBR already had one in the room the last time we were there) and will probably make a grocery stop for water bottles and juice boxes. What do you think?

We are splitting our next trip too. Originally, I thought I would only buy mugs at one resort. But now I think we will buy two mugs at one resort and two mugs at the second resort ~ souveniers. There are 4 of us travelling. We have two mugs from CBR and two from CSR. S

We purchased mugs about five years ago and visit WDW at least twice a year. While we mostly stay at PO Riverside, (DXL for you diehards) we have also stayed at a couple other resorts. We bring our mugs always and use them at different resorts. We've never had anyone say we couldn't use them and have often been told that they were welcomed back. My DXL mugs have a special place in my heart ( we also use them at home ) so I haven't yet bought newer PO Riverside mugs. I know that a thread surrounding refillable mugs made it's way through the boards before with the pros and cons of use but we've always been welcomed with ours. Good Luck!!

I think it depends on how much you think you'll use them. If I refill mine 3 times I feel I've gotten my money's worth when you consider the cost of the soda and the fact that you've got a great souvenir. But, it sounds like you're going to have some drinks in your room so you may not want to mess with it.

We are also splitting our 8 night stay (4 and 4). We have mugs from CR from 2 years ago. I was going to bring them back and use them for our stay there. When we switch over to Poly, I was going to buy 2 mugs for my husband and me. We will definitely drink more than $22.00 worth of coffee and tea in 5 days, so it will be worth it. It depends on how much you drink.

We usually split our stay too. For our family of four, we buy 2 mugs at each resort and share. -HM

Hi,

I thought the refillable mugs were only for your current stay....

Are they refillable for life? you just have to stay at the same resort?

Thanx

>>^..^<<

Wow! I didn't realize you would have to buy at both places. For our family, it would still save us money.

I would just do the math--add up the full cost according to what you normally drink in a day and compare to the cost of the mug.

As for CBR, it depends on what "island" you're located in. We didn't use our mugs nearly as much as we do when we are at, for example, ASMu. It was quite a hike to OPR. Now we were there for 13 nights, so we certainly did get our moneys worth, but if I were only there for 4 days, I would consider not buying, especially if you're planning on having drinks in your room anyway.

I know some bring back their old mugs at the resort they purchased their mugs from...but I didn't know that you can also use the mugs to other resorts. Did the rules changed?? Is there something I should know about?

Sorry...I have been away from the DIS board in a long time...I just recently started posting again.

The mugs are only to be used during your current stay at the resort you purchased them from. If you decide to switch resorts during your stay, you are suppose to buy new mugs when you switch.
Now, do people use old mugs anyway and are not forbidden to use them, yes, but the official policy is that the mugs are for the current stay at the resort you are staying at.

No, the official policy has not changed: "One mug, one resort (plus "sisters"), one visit." But if your guiding principle is "Whatever the CMs allow", than it's basically "Anything goes!" People have observed guests using everything from "Big Gulp" cups, to thermoses, to you-name-it, all without being molested by CMs.

LOL!!!

"People have observed guests using everything from "Big Gulp" cups, to thermoses, to you-name-it, all without being molested by CMs."

I would never dream of trying to bring a Big Gulp cup. That is too funny.

I'm sorry if I gave the impression that I was "trying to get away with something". On more than one occassion, both my husband and I have been told, at PO Riverside, that our old mugs were good each time we visit. This has been said by different CMs on different occassions. If Disney didn't want you to reuse the mugs, I would think a notice of some sort would be posted and the CMs given direct rules which they would/should follow. We visit, from N.E., two or three times per year and spend quite a bit of money on each visit. I think that reusing mugs isn't hurting Disney any and is a testament to their service. If I was concerned with saving money, I'd be staying off-site.
