Hi
I have 100 points that are close to expiration (Jan 22) so I will try to travel or rent them but there is very limited availability ..

is transferring to RCI a true option? Can I use them there on a points night basis or only full weeks reservations?

any experiences on using points there?

thanks!

It depends on the destination resort. Some of the resorts in RCI's inventory participate only in "RCI Weeks" (full week reservation required); others participate in "RCI Points" (partial weeks; nightly stays); and some might participate in both.

You can search RCI's inventory and offerings through your DVC website login before transferring the points. In fact, you could book something immediately if you see something you like! Go login and poke around ... go see what is offered for the times and locations that are of interest to you.

In post #8 of the link immediately above, I describe my "step by step" for accessing RCI's inventory through the DVC website. It might be slightly out of date ... but should give you a start on navigation.

It's a better option than just letting your points expire, it gives you 2 years to try and make something on RCI work for you, even if it's just a local weekend getaway.

Two additional questions pls:

A) Is there any restriction if the points are in Holding?
B) the RCI transfer is also an option for points bought on resale?

thanks!

A... Holding is fine. Someone from RCI Will use your holding points very soon/quickly.
B.... Resale fine also.

Thanks for the reply… does it mean that holding conditions are transferred to RCi as well? (I’d have to book within 60d window?)

RCI might be your incentive to go somewhere new....Washington DC as mentioned, New York City, Williamsburg, Smokey Mountains have all been great.

Thanks for the comments.. my main concern is availability on a point basis and not weeks, as I mostly can travel weekends…
