Is purchasing park tickets in advance necessary if not doing LLMP?

My group of 4 adults and a toddler are arriving February 21. If we are not going to spend the money on LLMP, therefore not able to reserve rides in advance, is it necessary to purchase park tickets in advance of our arrival? I'm nervous about something happening and someone not being able to go, since I'm purchasing tickets for all 4 adults!

The only risk you run, other than a surprise price increase, is if they sell out. You are traveling right after a very busy week so I doubt if they would, but the risk is never zero. If you are not sure of someone in your travel party then it should be okay to wait until you are sure.

If something happens the tickets will retain their value and can be applied to other WDW tickets in the future.
