We'll be in Orlando 1st 2 weeks of Dec.
We would like to eat at The Rainforest cafe, Tony's, Liberty tree tavern, and Teppanyaki, but we don't want to be held to a certain day/time.
Being as its a slow time at Disney, will we be able to get a table easily enough ?

Even though it has been a slower time of year it may be busier than previous years. I know there were a lot of mentions on the Resort Boards about people having difficulties getting room availability even during this time.

No matter what time of year, we always make PS just to play it safe. We'll be there early Dec. I've already made some PS and plan to make more at the 60 day mark.

If there are specific restaurants you don't want to miss I would make PS for those. Especially if they are popular ones at the resorts or for most any at MK. LTT dinner may be hard to come by, there are a lot of nights that have the Mickey Xmas party scheduled so I'm sure LTT will be very busy if not already booked.

RF and Teppanyaki shouldn't be too hard to get into, but be prepared to wait without a PS. When we were there for lunch (RF) last year during early December we had PS, there were a lot of people waiting at the podium, the restaurant wasn't filled up but I think they were a bit understaffed at the time too.

If you can narrow down whether you want to do lunch or dinner then I would just pick a time. As it gets closer its easier to get in there if you already have PS even if you get there earlier or later or call that morning to change times.

We were unable to get into Teppanyaki in early Feburary. Booked solid. I was at the podium at 3:30 and they weren't going to be able to get us in at all. We ended up eating at the Tempura place - which was good.

Make them if you really want to eat someplace. You can always call and cancel - or even not show up (although you SHOULD call and cancel).

Since Teppanyaki is one of the restaurants available on the CP package, expect it to be pretty well booked.

We normally go to WDW in that time period and didn't used to make PS. We were stunned to find one year, after the CP started in Epcot, that we basically HAD to have PS for any sit-down Epcot restaurant. Our only choices for that first night on that trip were very limited times at Nine Dragons or Biergarten - neither of them in my top 10 picks.

It's always good to make a PS if you can. This way, you know you can get what you want. We are also going in early December. I have called at booked my dinner at Le Cellier. I knew once the CP packages came out, I would have a hard time getting a ressie if I waited too long.

Also, Last year we were there 9/5-13 and I wanted a breakfast at Chef Mickey's. I didn't call at 120 days out, thinking that I really didn't need to since it is such a slow time. Well, I had trouble getting the ressies! I had to take a very early slot. It all worked out, but it's good to call as soon as you can.

The only PS we made for out trip in 10 days was for breakfast at Chef Mickey and 1900 Park Faire. Both ressies were made less than 60 days out with no problem.

Last time I was at disney, about 6 years ago was for a week the Sunday after Easter. We did not make any PS before we arrived except for Chef Mickey breakfast. The whole week we never had trouble making a PS for where we wanted to eat. We were also able to make CM PS for dinner on the same day. If you are flexible about the times that you eat, getting in to your restaurant of choice should not be a problem. We usually try to eat one big meal between lunch and dinner (3-4pm). If you have to eat at peak times then you should make ressies way in advance. I personally don't do this because I don't know what I am going to want on a particular day.

If you don't get one, try on that day. We did Fantasmic @ H&V, the Sundae Character deal at The Land and Prime Time on same day ressies.

Thanks everyone :D
Going on what you've all said, I am going to make some PS'.
I'm going to go with what Shafke says and book them for about 3-4, and eat between lunch and dinner.
What is the busiest time around lunch ?
I don't know whether I could wait until 4 for my lunch :)

You won't go wrong if you make your PS's around 3:00. That is still considered lunch and you get the lunch prices but the same food as dinner. Have a great trip!
