I have read a few posts that said the prime rib sub was no longer a menu item. Is there anyone who has gone to B&C lately that can attest to that?

As of July it was still on the menu, my Dh had it and said it was very good.

Just got confirmation on the Restaurants board that it has indeed been taken off the menu and replaced with the roast beef sub.

   Waaaahhhhh!

We just went to B&C in August. The prime rib sandwich was no longer on the menu. It was replaced with a hot roast beef - kind of like a cheesesteak sandwich.

that makes my family very sad.

WOW - I'm very surprised!!

We were there till August 19th and we had them 3 times during our stay. They are so popular.. I can't imagine why they changed them.:(

probably the cost difference between the two meats. With the vouchers they figured they were losing to much money. That's my only guess.

The steak subs were gone when we ate there on August 7 and August 12. They used to be made of an actual steak and not sliced beef. See picture in my post above.

Personally, I thought the "taste" was exactly the same. The only difference was the "texture". You are now biting into sliced meat as opposed to the big hunk of steak.

but they are good? Right. My nephew was very upset when he found out they were gone. But he said he likes roast beef too.

Someone posted that they had originally been using the leftover prime rib from the Yachtsman. That made them really cheap for Disney to provide - even with the vouchers. But they were so popular that they ran out nearly every day - and people were disappointed when the sandwich wasn't available. They couldn't cost effectively make those subs with "new" prime rib, so they went off the menu.

Don't know how true this is, but it did make sense to me.

I just told DH and he is mad! That was his favorite meal at B&C. Now he'll have to find something else. Hope he doesn't want to go to Yachtsman!!! Annmarie

We ate at B&C when we were at WDW last winter, and that's exactly what the counter guy told me (they were sold out the day we went, and we got to chatting about it). Another interesting fact is that when the vouchers first came out, they were for ANY dessert at B&C, and so people would come in and order kitchen sinks for everyone at the table. The counter guy said that it was disgusting how much food was going to waste, not to mention the cost, but they honored it for the year, and changed it on the next voucher printing . . . he also told me that people would get really angry if they couldn't have one, but that there were only about a dozen of the special 'kitchen sinks' available to serve them in, and sometimes, folks would have to wait. Which was very unpleasant for the serving staff.

It only takes a handful of idiots and wastrels to spoil it for everyone!

What kind of a person orders a separate Kitchen Sink for everyone at the table just "because he/she can"? When the Kitchen Sink was available on the vouchers we ordered one vouchers worth (a drink, a sandwich with a side, and the Kitchen Sink...and then additionally 2-3 more sandwich plates without vouchers...this was a huge meal even for 5 adults and teens to split so we only ever did this twice (on two separate trips).

We ate at BC more than once each trip, but used more vouchers and got smaller desserts. lol...

This started out as a rant, but thinking of the BC made me smile...er, and salivate!

In my opinion, the roast beef sub wasn't nearly as good as I remembered the prime rib to be. The buger, however, was out of this world! It was so juicy and delicious. We ordered one of each so that we could share and we both devoured the burger and left a little of the sub.

When we went last year, they had run out of the prime rib sub and I was bummed. I never got a chance to try it. But our waiter told us they were going to be getting rid of it for the same reasons posted above. I had the burger instead and it was GREAT. This past August we went, and DH had the buger and I had the roast beef sub and it was GREAT. IT was a million times better than the roast beef sandwich I had at Le Cellier a few days later. We will be there next week and I can't wait to get the sub again!

Maybe I'm being too hard on it. I guess since I had the prime rib sub in June I might be a little biased toward it. Actually, I still rathered the burger. It was one of the best I have ever eaten.

Tarmand-

Nothing to do with food, I just wanted to say that I love the picture of your DD with Minnie. That is one of the sweetest pictures I have seen. A real keepsake memory. Thank you for the smile:D

We were told the same thing in JUly when we wanted to try the Prime Rib Sub. Our waiter told us that the Prime Rib came from left overs at Yachtsman. I also felt like the burger was much better. We ate at B & C a couple of times, and when I finally got to try the Prime Rib Sub, I thought that the burger was much better.
