Is Preferred Parking Worth It?

After walking forever yesterday, and needing every people mover to finally get to the park, today we decided preferred parking might be worth it.

We parked only one section closer !!! Was the "preference" that we were on the same level and just didn't have to take an escalator? Sheesh!

Preferred parking isn't worth it. It only keeps you on the 3rd level so you don't have to take an elevator/escalator.

I found the parking rather far no matter where you park at Universal. It's still a hike to get to the park entrances.

I don't believe Preferred Parking is worth it, not the way the garages are set up, it's just not that much better......UNLESS it's August and the alternative is to park on the top floor in the hot sun (been there done that)

Valet parking is worth it at Universal!

Preferred parking...not really!

AP holders get a discount on preferred and valet parking. Not so bad when you don't pay as much!

Valet parking depends on how long you are there but they cap it after a certain amount of hours...I don't remember the exact cost but I do recall it wasn't that bad...I was very surprised. You do get a discount if you have an AP. They have signs for valet at the entrance...you come up steps right at the movie theater. It took them only a few moments to get me in and out. I tipped the same as I do for a hotel valet.

I will look for the rates in my notes from my last trip...I just remember thinking how much I loved it with 2 kids- especially if you are shopping at the end of the day!

I just checked- I have written down that regular parking is 8.00- free for AP holders- not sure what the upgrade to premium is...it is a few bucks for AP holders and all day valet is 16.00 + tip. Don't quote me...just what my notes from May say! If you stay under a certain # of hours you don't pay that much- say if you just have lunch and some shopping. I just remember thinking when I found out about it- why didn't I do this before?! It was worth it .

pixiepower1971 Thanks so much for the info!!! OK I have another question. When you use valet parking is it closer to the entrance? Do you go to the entrance to drop off your car? Just wondering how far a walk it is.

Valet parking is a lot closer. You enter the regular queue between the peoplemovers on the walkway spoke after the hub. Its real close to the Cineplex.
Preferred is not worth it. You can be located farther from the park depending on the time of day and volume of traffic.
We usually arrive early (8) and get a space close to an escalator.
