We are looking to stay for 7 nights in November. POR is the resort we are seriously looking at. I know each person's thoughts and experiences are different, but would you consider it 'worth it' to pay an additional $500 for POR Garden View room vs POP Preferred room???

With the size of your family, do you need 2 rooms? Honestly, I wouldn't pay an extra $500 for POR.

Every family is different and it depends on what theme you like.
Both are completely different. POR is laid back and quiet and POP is more fun, animated and louder.
How much will you be at the resort or in your room?

Well there is only going to be 4 of us on this trip - DH, myself DD7 and DS5 (it will be DS 5th birthday).

IF they offer FD and we are able to score a room at POR for that, then it is only a $200.00 increase and I would consider that.

My only issue is we do plan on taking it easy this trip - not staying until the parks close every day, spending some time at the resorts. We've never been in November before so I'm not sure if it will be warm enough (once the sun sets) for swimming - so who knows. I guess I'm trying to find the resort that all of us can enjoy....so hard to decide!

Yes it is worth it, I have stayed at both and moderates to me are certainly worth the extra money. I have stayed at All Star Music, Pop, CSR, POR, WL and Poly. I will never go back to a value unless I cant afford it and am on a tight budget. If you are planning on taking it easy and being at the resort then I would definitely pay the 500.00 extra for POR. It is just way more relaxing there than Pop and the landscaping is beautiful. Here is a link to maybe help you decide http://www.portorleans.org/

I see you have a 7 year old...POR has a water slide, POP does not. This is a deal breaker for my kids :rotfl2:

We used to stay at the values and were happy with them. But once we tried a Mod, I can't hardly imagine going back. Although the kids do want to try AoA one time. We love the extra room that the Mod provides and we like the atomsphere of them. I would give it a try one time and decide for yourself.

Personally for me it would be yes, I think POR is a nicer resort having seen both. :-)

Double beds are a deal breaker for us. Queen beds are a must for DH and I. We sleep on a king at home, but we can sleep on a queen at Disney.

I would stay at a moderate for the queen size beds over Pop's double size beds.

I would say that "yes" it is worth it! 7 days is a good length for a trip and if you plan on spending time at the resort, I think that POR will seem less crowded and less hectic than POP.

We're going in September and we upgraded 2 weeks ago to POFQ. We plan on spending most afternoon's in our room and we wanted a quieter resort so that's why we chose to spend the extra money to upgrade.

$500 is significant, at least for me, but I think I would spring it to stay at POR over Pop for my family. We're a family of 4, and the last time we stayed at a Value, my kids were only 3 and 5. Even then, sharing a double bed with a 5 yr old was pretty cramped. $500 for a week of more room on the bed and decent sleep? That seems worth it to me while on vacation in one of the most tiring places on Earth. :)

LOL! Isn't it funny how you plan these wonderful vacations at the happiest place on earth and then you come home more tired than you was to start and needing a real vacation?! But we wouldn't trade those trips for nothing!

I would not choose POR over POP for an additional $500. That being said, POR is a beautiful resort. If you are the type of family who spends more time at the resort and want the water activities and larger floor space then it might be worth it.

No kidding, right? :lmao: I wouldn't trade it for anything either. As exhausting as it is, it's also some of the best memories and fun. My husband always takes an extra day off from work when we return from our trip, just to sleep lol. I'm planning on a one night camping trip with my oldest kiddo's scout troop a few days after our return from our trip this year and my husband thinks I'm nuts for doing it so soon after we get home. I might regret it too. :faint:

If it's more than a night...Pop's not right ;)

When we stayed at Pop the beds seemed small and uncomfortable to me.

My thoughts exactly!

We have stayed at all the values including Art of Animation Little Mermaid rooms (stayed January 2014) Your kids would totally love the little mermaid pool and all the landscaping, its awesome.Lots of outdoor things to do and close enough to Pop to walk over the bridge and check it out too. AoA food court is great too.

We stayed at POR late August 2013.The POR is definitely more plush and beds are better than values. The only downside at POR is the dining room for breakfast, which I though was crazy busy.It was really hard to find a seat. POR does have beautiful pools and you can walk or ride along the river (bayou) your kids will love it.

Stayed at the All-Stars in November and December multiple years and over Xmas (ASM is fun for little ones) but room is small.
Good luck choosing.:)
