is pool hopping allowed??

i am going to DW in feb, and i am new to all of this. i was told by a friend that if i am staying in a disney resort, i can use the pool at any other resort. is this true?? we are staying at GF. please help!! i am so overwhelmed by ALL of this!! thanks.

No- you can only use the pool at the resort you are staying at.

But you have a very nice pool at GF. I like the leisure pool over the themed pool.

DVC Members are allowed to pool hop as a member perk. But during busy holiday times, we are not allowed to do it. Plus we can't hop over to Stormalong Bay at BC/YC/BCV or the pool at the AKL.

I thought someone should warn you, since this is your first post, that you've asked a question that has historically tended to turn heated and nasty. Welcome to the DISboards mariomama!! Don't feel silly asking about pool hopping. There are even some guide books out there that will say you can go to any pool in WDW if you are staying at one of the WDW resorts. However, not true. There is signage at each pool there, that tells you that pool is for only those that are staying at that particualar resort. The only resorts this does not apply to are POR, and POFQ, they are sister resorts and if staying at one of them, you are welcome to go to the other's pool. Same thing with the AllStars I believe. But, that's it. There is a chance that someone will be asked for resort ID while at the pool and if they don't have the correct ID they will be asked to leave.
But, as the previous poster said...the pool at the GF is very nice. In fact, there are people that have tried to pool hop over to that one!!! Hope you have a great trip. And keep stopping by the DIS to get lots of great info.
