Is pool hopping allowed or not?

I am trying to understand the pool hopping thing. If I stay in an Allstar resort I am allowed to swim in any of the ALL star pools (sports, music, movies) right?

But can I go swim in a moderate like Coronado springs, or a deluxe like Grand Floridian? Does resort ID have to be shown before having access to these pools? I don't understand the way this works. How will I know if someone from ANOTHER resort is swimming in MY resort pool?

I read that YC/BC is very strict and I can understand that, but how about the other resorts?

DVCers can poolhop but not to Stormalong Bay or AKL and there are a few blackout dates. Otherwise no.
Those that are staying at an AllStar resort can poolhop to the other AllStar resorts. Those staying at PO/Riverside can pool hop to PO/FQ and vice versa.

It's not just people from other resorts or hotels... it's local residents who take their kids for a free swim at a nice hotel for the day :)

You probably won't know either way.

They only monitor the popular pools like Stormalong Bay and I have seen them checking at the Uzuma springs pool at AKL (but only on a really busy day)

Just to clarify a bit more, you CAN use the other All-Star pools if you are staying at an All-Star resort. Guests staying at Port Orleans - Riverside and French Quarter can also use each other's pools, since they are considered "sister" resorts. But, as said above, you cannot hop to any of the other pools on property.
