Is pool heat worth it?

We are likely going to WDW in Dec. or Jan. I am debating whether to pay for pool heating if we go with a home with a pool. I have heard that the electric heating isn't very good for heating the pools well in cooler weather. Anybody go in a cooler month or any homeowners that can vouch for how well the pools will actually be heated?

We usually go in Feb and Mar and always get the pool heated. It's best if the owners have a pool blanket that you can put on when you're not using it especially at night when the temp. dips down. Most of the places we've stayed at have electric pool heat and with the blanket it's been fine, even without the blanket it's ok as long as it doesn't get too cold.

If you have children in your party then it is certainly worth it .We are in a home at the moment with pool heat and it is really good.Electric heaters aren't so efficient if the air temp drops below 50-55 degrees but otherwise they are fine.I f the owner has a cover then make sure you use it as it will keep the heat in over night.Maybe asking if there is one would be a help as if there isn't you are wasting your money in heating the pool.

Hi, with the chilly weather lately, might check to see if the home has gas pool heat...It is very fast, and always on...does not shut off when temp is below about 55 degrees...I think it is hard to look at the big beautiful pool and know you can't use unless you are in the polar bear club!

We've been down in December and January and have electric heaters and they work great, IF you use the pool blanket so all the built up heat doesn't escape at night when it gets cold.

I would absolutely get the heat! With it, our pool is a toasty 85 degrees every day, even when it's cold outside, we consider it mandatory unless you're not going to use the pool at all.

Do ask if the home has a pool blanket, this is important.
