I think I'm in trouble. I just looked at my collection and I almost have 700 pins. And I'm still buying. How many is too many.

I like all the pins I see. I've been trying to build up my trades but when I get the pins I like them so much I decide to keep them.

Does anyone else suffer from this pin aliment!!!

Cathy

YES! I have probably 400 and have only been doing this since September!!!

Hi, Cathy --

It's definitely an addiction, and lots of us suffer from it. I've done the same thing -- bought pins to use as traders and wound up keeping them.

At least we have lots of company!!

I'm willing to join a 12 step program ... but only if they give a LE pin to participants at the end.

Oh, and we met a CM at WDW that has over 4,000 pins in his personal collection. So I'm not sure if 400-700 would qualify as a full-blown addiction.

Without question...it's an addiction! ;)

You know there's a way to curb your pin addiction similar to the nicotine patch? If you haven't traded or purchased a new pin in a while and start feeling jittery, just take a pin and stick it to your arm. How long the calming effect lasts depends on the pin. A Pro pin will only last about half an hour, but a Mickey for President will last almost 6 days and the Alaska DS pin almost 10 days!

And if you believe this, I have a Wet Paint to trade for your flex pin. :D :jester: :p :D

Trading -- No
Collecting -- Yes

I think it calms down after awhile. I was spending money so fast on pins it was frightening. (And yet many here were much worse than I was. You know who you are! ;) :jester: )

I went through many stages: Oh I MUST HAVE IT, to drop it all and walk away. Everytime I wanted to quit SOMETHING drug me back into the web. ;)
Once I hit that thousand pin mark, I have *calmed* a little without a doubt. There are just so many pins (not that I ever tried to get them all). It's even hard to keep up with what is available.
I still buy, collect, trade, and occasionally sell. But I don't have that HAVE to HAVE it moment. This is a case I think we all could learn (myself included) from children and collect and trade what we like, not by price, worth, LE, rack, etc. It certainly would be easier if all pins were created equal. ;)
And now I figure what am I doing with the other 1,000+ pins? They are most lt sitting in binders. I have good intentions on framing, but don't have the time or the money (gotta spend it on more pins and Disney vacations ;) ) or inclination at that time.
I trade, but not a lot like I use to. I guess I buy, collect and trade (still a lot in a non-collector's eyes) but I think without it being so much and so hectic I like my current focus best. It's just a pin after all.
The best truly is that I have met so many wonderful people through trading, here and abroad. People I never would have met otherwise.
sniff.. sniff.. I LOVE YOU GUYS! :D ;)

I guess it could be considered an addiction....but like other less desirable addictions it has no physical harm (okay, except for the occasional finger prick, or that time I dropped Sleepy Beauty on my lap and smacked my thighs together to catch her....OUCH). The harm to the budget is a given....but that comes with any addiction so I am crossing that out!
As for benefits.....there are so many.....you got me as a pin pal....need I say more? ;)

But seriously...call it an addiction, a hobby, a collection.....the end result.....
