Hi! We're doing the DP for the very first time this January. We will be staying at Coronado. Although the Coronado restaurants are not yet listed on the DP, (I'm keeping my fingers crossed), I'd like to know how to handle the Pepper Grill.

Would eating there for breakfast or lunch be considered Quick Service?

Thanks for your help!

I presume you are referring to Pepper Market at CSR? In which case, go ahead and enjoy yourself. It is the CSR food court open from breakfast through to dinner and yes, they do accept the dining plan. It is counter service, so perfect for grabbing whatever you want with your QSDP credits. :)

Also just so you are aware the lunch menu is much more limited than the dinner menu.

Dinner starts at 4PM.

OK, I am still a little confused about the Pepper Market using a Quick Service point.

Apparently, at the market you can go around and order something from one location (say Pizza), a sandwich or salad at another location, etc. etc.

This, in reality, is very different from say going up to a QS place in a park and say ordeirng the Cheeseburger and Fries which is clearly a QS point.

How does it work in the Pepper Market? The reason I am asking is that my son can eat five tons of food at one sitting, :woohoo: and I don't feel like having him go there for lunch and using up all of his QS points on ONE lunch excursion.

Can someone please explain how the Pepper Market would work with a QS point???

Same as anywhere else.

You get 1 meal, 1 beverage and one dessert.

If you get pizza at one place and chicken at another that is two meals.

:confused3

I read on allears that when you go to pay at the Pepper Market, that they automatically add a 10% gratituity to your bill. I really wanted to try here for lunch one day but don't like when a CS or any restaurant decides for me on how much I should leave for a tip. Can anyone verify this ???

As I understand it:

If you pay OOP they will add 10% service charge.

If you are on the DDP they do not add the 10%.
It is customary to leave 10% for the server OOP.

If you take your food to go the 10% does not apply.

Anything more specific to do with tipping needs to go on the tipping thread in the main restaurant forum.

They dont add the tip on the DDP. I was talking to our server about it our vist last year. We left him a tip, he was a great server. They only add it to non dining plan. The first time we ate I didnt leave a tip as I thought they would add it on, I felt bad then when they didnt and I didnt realize.

The food is really good, dessert was good too! We ate twice at the Pepper Market, very relaxed.

DDP no longer covers the service charge (changed as of sometime earlier this year :(). However, you can get it "to go" and eat it either at the tables outside or even in Cafe Rix (others have asked and it was fine by them, but ask first anyway).

There are lots of tables outside with a nice view of Lago Dorado. We stayed at CSR a few years ago and often took our food outside.

However, a recent diner said they were NOT charged the 10% fee on the dining plan.

We were there at the end of August and ate many meals at Pepper Market. We were never charged the 10% gratiuty.

I'm closing this as it is now about the tip, and the tipping thread has been linked.
