My dads xmas gift is a 2 night stay at universal studios and i'm deciding between HRH and PBH. I have stayed 2x at HRH and loved it, but dads never stayed anywhere on site. I'm leaning towards PBH because i've never stayed there and I booked him a massage at Mandara, so that would be convenient. But pictures make it look really large! Like neverending boardwalk hallways large! lol. What is the truth?? :rotfl:

It is a large resort, but so beautiful. The standard rooms are larger than the what the other two hotels provide. We've always had a bay view room (paid once, upgraded once) in the main building so we've been close to everything.

To give you a sense of how large it is, we were upgraded to the club-level on our first visit. We were in top floor of the main building and went looking for the club lounge. Thinking it would be on the top floor somewhere, we took off to look for it. 15 minutes later we were still searching. Turns out the club is just off the lobby, but some of those hallways just never seem to end.

I've often found that the PBH rates are less than HRH. So if you can afford it, I say go for it. You won't be disappointed.

Is the walk to the parks short? The boys have always stayed at HRH and it's not available for their date this summer.

Hmm...I think I booked them at the Royal Pacific now that I look at the reservations. Do you know about the walk though for RPH?

I wouldn't call the walk from the RPR or PBH short, but it is certainly possible. We've done the walk from RPR, but never from PBH. Honestly, the water taxi service to/from PBH seems to be more frequent than when we stayed at RPR.

The boys walked from HRH and didn't think it was bad. Is it the same distance?

If you are taking your Dad...go for Portofino. He will love it, and so will you.
The resort is amazing..yes, large, but you can ask for your room to be convenient to elevators, etc.

funny, now that you mention it, it does seem like endless hallways like the boardwalk. but we love it.
