Is pandora opening in may? (did disney slip up today?)

To the OP, you were 100% right...rteetz posted that it will be summer 2017 (probably at the earliest) for Pandora...

We don't know he was 100% right summer is anything from June to September.

But it sure is after the May expiration on those special tickets...

And if it doesn't open until September, Disney is in serious, serious trouble in 2017...the park of all old vs the park of brand new will get toasted...they have got to be pushing for the earliest summer date to try and beat or tie Volcano Bay...if it's June 1 and they have nothing, who would actually pick full price Disney tickets over full price Universal ones?

It's the September part I'm more concerned about. I'm likely going in the early half of September (but after Labor Day) rather than the mid-to late half like I was last time. It's more because I'm trying to avoid Food and Wine Festival and HHN and originally it was also for MNSSHP but Disney ended up starting them at the beginning of September this year so I'm guessing they'll do the same for next year (basically I was going for the fall/halloween decor without the heavier crowds since I know it's more crowded than in 2011;we can handle wait times it's the whole feeling like you can't move around freely that we're trying to avoid).

Two concerns for me is if it opens up too close to my expected travel dates well..that could lead to more crowds right around the opening as opposed to having it open for a month or two...and that I would miss it by just a few weeks.

So here's hoping it's more like June/July/August :flower1:

Summer starts may 20. i think they are leaving 3 months just in case soething comes up.

They arent going to open on top of mnsshp and food and wine that already brings in crowds.

Disney doesnt follow calendar, 1st day of summer season, show, etc has always been may 20 or 21
Do you know this for sure? Is this in written form that Disney doesn't follow calendars?

Sure Summer to Disney can mean late May to September but you can't make that statement as fact because it isn't.

To be fair, Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend has been the unofficial true summer season for as long as I've been alive...and that's not a short time:)...

Ok but Accident said May 20th, that's not Memorial Day.

Maybe since school districts start letting out for "summer" vacation in late May..? Regular season pricing ended May 26th this year for the Disney resorts and went to summer pricing after the Memorial Day weekend.
Again just pointing that accident said May 20th where he stated that as fact when it really isn't. That said, I don't think we see avatar open in May hence the summer opening remarks given today. We should see Pandora open sometime between June and September.

I actually didnt look at the calendar to see where memorial day was. i was going by the 24 hour event when it was in may and billed as start of summer.

Memorial to labor day is better wording.

"Summer" is a vague placeholder that allows them to open anytime from Memorial day until about mid-September and still claim "Summer 2017".

The only thing I would say though is that if you are going to be promoting your product as being available for "Summer 2017" you SHOULD be targeting the beginning of that time-frame, not the end, because less observant people could be basing their vacation around it. Though will anyone base a vacation around Pandora opening?

I would base a vacation around it if I was able to go but that's just me I guess.

Since we go in late August...yes. But I wouldn't book May or early June.
