Is onsite worth it in early December??

We are thinking of staying our first night at US/IOA specifically for the adavantag of the front of the line access. We are travelling with our 3 kids (7, 5 and 1) and my in-laws.

We currently have res. at AllStars for the 1st night at $49 per nite for two rooms. I got a rate of $125 for HRH or $107 for Royal Pacific for the same night per room. So we're looking at $100-$150 more.

My question is will we really need the FOTL access in early December. Will the parks be that crowded???

We were at Universal and IOA last December on the 5th and 6th (Thursday and Friday) and we did not have to wait for anything. We walked right on everything with the longest wait being probably 5-10 minutes........and those were for the coasters.

You still may need it for the more popular rides like Spiderman, Hulk, Dueling Dragons and Shrek 4-D.

But that is not the only benefit of staying onsite. Just like Disney, it's more magical. You can walk or take a boat to the parks. They, too, have a form of EE mornings, and you can possibly have a view of the parks or the pool. The themes of the resorts are wonderful and the pools are great!

I don't stay at their resorts just for FOTL access, athough that is GREAT, I stay for the whole onsite feeling/convenience.

All that being said, I can understand your wanting to pay $49 vs. $107. RP. It's all in what is most important to the individual.

How will you be getting to the parks from All Star? Rental car, shuttle?

We always split our stays now (only one trip we didn't). We're also DVC members but I would never want miss out on the Universal onsite resort experience once I experienced it. Our first time splitting the trip, we stayed off site and it was just alright.

Good luck deciding!

Thanks guys!! Still weighing staying on site. May just go for it anyway. When you're spending this much, heck what's another $100 bucks!

Beattyfamily it doesn't matter what or where I post, you always have an answer for me! You are a great source all on your own. You gave me the rental car codes, MVMCP info, Universal info, etc. - thank you very much!!

I thought I recognized your name! You are very welcome! I love when I can answer questions or give an opinion on something I might know something about...which isn't really that much!;)
