Keep in mind, I am not a fan of "The Crowd". (Why is that? I really have grown to hate being in places packed with people. I dont think Ive always been like that. OMG. Im getting old, arent I?) :scared:

OK... if nobody is going to talk me out of it, then I am going to start planning my trip!

anyone?
anyone?

I think October is a great time to go! Mild weather, lesser crowds, and HM will be decorated with Nightmare!

I'm hoping to go Oct 2008!

October is a fabulous time to go!! There is beautiful fall and Halloween decorations now, you might get to go to a Mickey's Halloween Treat party, the weather is great, during the week it is very low crowds!!!

Start that planning, you won't find anyone on these boards to talk you out of it, LOL!

Our last trip to DL was in the month of October. Low crowds, great weather, off-peak airfares and hotel rates - perfect! :thumbsup2

We went last October and crowds were low during the week, but a bit busier then I expected during the weekend, If you go, get tickets for MHT it was soooooo much fun.

Another vote for October. I loved the autumn/Halloween decorations, light crowds during the week, nice weather. Went last year in Oct. and want to go again this year.

We were expecting it to be less crowded when we went last year in October. After we booked we found out that Gay Days was going on while we would be there. It was horrible! There were too many people and DL wasn't on a schedule that accommodated the crowds well.

I agree with previous posters, though. The decorations were fabulous. The highlight of our trip was seeing the Holiday overlay on the Haunted Mansion.

UGH - we just booked our trip, as well, for 10/6-10/10 since that is during my kids Fall break - come to find out that is during the "Gay Days" this year. Oh man, I hope it's not super crowded!

Is there a site that will tell me what special events are going on at DL? I didn't even know that I might be planning a trip to the west coast until two nights ago. And now, with the fourth night free option, it might be worth going during the kids' fall break, which I think is around October 13th or 15th.

You also have Columbus Day over your 5 days there (Monday, October 8) so plan on heavier than usual crowds on that day. Since there is no school and a national holiday, the Disneyland local population will be out in force. Tuesday and Wednesdy, the 9th and 10th, should be much quieter for you.

We are going in October this year, and have in the past. The last time it was a bit more crowded then I would have liked. But, I think the key is avoid the Gay Days events and Columbus Day weekend. Also I tend to think the later in the month it gets, you might see more crowds for Halloween. There are also the fall breaks that some schools get.

But weekdays tend to be really good (that last time we went was a weekend!). So I think it's all in the planning in order to hit the least crowded days (which is what we want too!).

what do you guys think about Oct 11 and 12th. thur and friday???

will the Gay Days and Holiday still affect these days?

It is my understanding that Gay days are the weekend of October 5-7.

Also, if you go to www.mouseplanet.com they do a Disneyland Report every Monday and they have scheduled events, such as Gay Days and the Halloween Treat listed. :)

We are going in OCtober again this year. Great crowd level, the only down side is that there were several rides being worked on when we were there.
