Seems like the Disney hotels are really booked up for the weekend of Oct 8. I've been trying to get a discount room at WL with no luck. Is this just because of the discount rates or is this really a busy time?

I'm hoping that everyone is staying at the Disney hotels because of the discounts and that the off property hotels are empty.

I thought October was a slow time at the parks. I was hoping to not have to fight crowds this time. I realize there are a couple of special events going on which could be attracting some additional people.

Should I prepare for big crowds at the parks?

I think this is a holiday weekend--Columbus Day. Many people have that Monday off.

You also have the Food and Wine Festival in Epcot. I am sure till it is over in Nov the parks will be busier especially Epcot.

October has become a busier time of year over the past few years. The crowd level tends to be about the same as May. With so many activities going on (MNSSHP, Happy Haunts, Food and Wine, etc.) this brings so many folks in along with the locals. No where near Easter/Christmas crowds, but not empty. You still need PS for those more popular places to eat.

My family and I are flying into MCO on the 7th and leaving on the 11th. We are really excited, I have only been to WDW in the month of July so for me I know that no matter what crowds come it will be less than I'm used to.

When we booked for that weekend I thought a large % of the crowds that weekend would be local or instate, but because of the hurricane season I have doubts that their will be a lot of local attendance.

We will be there! Also remember, on top of it being a holiday weekend and F & W, many people who could not come down during the hurricanes have now rescheduled. I never worry about crowds, we will have fun no matter what! However, some of the rooms may be taken by locals who had to leave home and workers who have come down to restore power ect. I know Disney seems a little pricey for that but I think most of the hotels down there are full right now.

and staying WL CV. I got it for $169/night using code BAT. Starting the 8th it was going to be $290/night for the same room:earseek: :earseek: . We are moving to the Poly on the 8th GV for $244/night also using BAT. Out of curiosity I checked the passholder code too, thought about upgrading on arrival. It would save me about $20/day at WL and about $20/day at the poly. The passholder rates were still available yesterday, FYI. You might want to try another hotel. I know that AKL usually has low rates for some reason. HTH,
