Is my travel agent wrong??

Following recent discussions here on the Dis, I thought I would confirm with the Thomson travel agent (phoned the local branch) that as we had premum economy flights booked that we would be entitled to free access to the lounge at Sanford airport (Royal palm lounge)for our return journey. We travel from Newcastle on 2 July for 14 nights.

I thought we were entitled to the lounge's benefits and I'm sure fellow Disers have been too. I can't find anything in the brochure which states that we can.

Am I missing something, has the policy changed or is the agent incorrect, or is it just wishful thinking on my behalf?

I will never get over going in and asking for a Disneyland & Cali brochure, she gave me Florida brochures, said she never knew there was another Disney.
I do call in time to time to get prices, Karen just asks why? she knows I get wound up.

The previous thread mentioned that entrance to the lounge is stated in the FC brochure, however the latest one that goes up to April 2011 refers to having to pay for using the lounge. There is no mention of it being a perk of upgrading to PE.

In the previous tread at least one person was considering the upgrade to PE based on this additional perk and I wouldn't want them to have a bit of a shock when they turn up.

Does anyone know of a way to find out definitively whether or not the Sanford lounge can still be used by PE passengers? Contact the main Thomson/FC helpline or to contact Sanford airport direct?

When we went with FC in 2008 and had the premium seats there was a voucher included with the book of flight txts etc that you handed over to the lounge in Sanford when coming home, so maybe when you get your travel tickets you will know for sure. If i remember correctly it is something you can book if you want to do it and it isnt included in your PE tickets.

Hello my sister looked and it was def in either the thompson or first choice america brochure thought our travel agent did not know this !!

Though she has been great when we booked, price matching and helping whenever she can

When we looked at FC flight for September it was included if we upgraded

I think TA are only interested in their cheap Euro Holidays all the TA's near me know every thing about Majorca and First choice holiday village they know the broacher word to word sounds great but not for me thanks

Not all TA's are stupid and are only interested in selling "Euro Holidays". In fact I have many regular customers as a branch manager at Thomson that I give accurate and friendly advice to - as well as price matching the internet for them lol.

Admittedly, it does sound like you have come upon some rather dodgy ones but unfair to generalize us all

No-one is suggesting they are stupid, there are just a few(maybe a lot) out there that lack the knowledge required to be T/A's.
I used to get on great with a local TA, she really looked after us but when she left I have never found another I like. Thankfully I now prefer DIY trips.

I never said they were stupid! One of my best friends is a TA but I think their training could be a bit more wide spread across the country as I have had queries about holidays and don't seem to get much help from my TA but many if my friends who go to Europe love TA's as they are much more knowledgeable

But I never said any one was stupid! I guess they have to meet targets and more people book e.g holiday village with TA so they will have more knowledge.

Although not currently advertised in their current brochures (that includes FC) and the fact that travel agents (including their own) will not be aware of this, for anyone who upgrades to PE on Thomson airlines or FC you have complimentary (free) access to the Royal Palm Lounge at Sanford airport.

As a PP stated you will get vouchers with your tickets which you hand in to the lounge.
