Is my math on a direct add-on with the various incentives/discounts correct?

Ok, I'm busting out the spreadsheets to do some math. Probably going to post a new thread at some point to solicit feedback. I think someone answered this, but we're sure that an AP holder (e.g. Sorcerer Pass) can get $1,000 off a DVC add-on purchase currently? And the D23 Gold will net you another $450? And add-on purchases would be eligible for magical beginnings (if 150 points or more)? And when you do an add-on, I assume they give you points going back to the start of the current UY in which you're in? That's the math I'm assuming to start.

If that's right, it would actually only cost me about $1,350 more to do a 200 point RIV add-on under current promotions than if I went back and added it to my current 300 point purchase under the prior period incentives. And, our July trip just happens to span the end of the current incentive period, so I could play the same game as I did last time to see if current incentives get any better after July 14th. Plus, that gives me more time to decide what I actually want to do.

EDIT: I didn't factor in that I would have less pro-rated dues for the add-on, so that probably cancels out some of that $1,350 which makes it even more of a no brainer to wait, I think.
Exactly. This is what I have been telling myself about PVB since it went on sale back in October. I have a later UY so I have seen the ups and downs in pricing, but knowing I didn't pay any dues and I can still get 2024 points makes it easier and brings the total price down.

It's also a bonus that Disney will help a current owner with a 'Welcome Home" booking (this is very new and was only previously available for new members). I am in no rush when it will save me dues money and let my money grow in my accounts.

Not sure if you want any banked points, but a separate add-on would also let you keep points rather than be forced to take MB. If you increased your original purchase to 500 you have the same final payment date and need to sell all 500 back. If you do it separately you can keep the 200 and bank it if you wanted to. Lots of decisions!

Yes 150 is the minimum for Magical Beginnings.

Since today is 5/31 you have today only for a June use year otherwise you could choose pick August, September, October or December and if they still have the 2024 points those would then be rented back to DVC as part of the Magical Beginnings and then you would have your full allotment of 2025 points to use plus the ability to borrow from 2026.

Any earlier use year and June starting tomorrow the Magical Beginnings would rent the 2025 points to Disney and you would have to start using the 2026 points.

@Sandisw do I remember correctly? I believe you mentioned about waiving the Title check (is that the right term) to save some additional money? Since Disney is the one selling this, it would be a shock if they didn’t pay their bills.

It wasn’t me who recommended but others have. I always paid it because when I was buying it was under $200 and it gave me peace of mind…even if it was an unlikely issue.

A few people also suggested I do this with my 300 point RIV purchase, and it seemed like too little to quibble over given how much I was already paying. Yeah, title insurance is really unlikely to ever be an issue, but it's like most insurance - peace of mind. Now, if I were going to save $1,000, might be a different question.

That is what we thought. It wasn’t enough to worry about paying.

I also didn't know if there would possibly be questions or issues down the line if I needed to sell so it made me feel better to leave it in my contracts.

Out of curiosity, whats the worst that could happen?

If something doesn’t have a clean title, and you don’t have title insurance, you are on the hook to cover the costs to get it that way.

With buying direct, there should not be an issue as you are getting from the developer…but, for me, I wasn worried about $180 when I was spending $40k.

If you want “chill” close to MK, you really have to check out CCV/WL.

@VGCgroupie ran the numbers and it’s an incredible value with the price, contract length, and point chart.

Which goes back to…. it’s worth waiting to actually check out the resorts.
likely where we will buy our "second week" when we are ready to do so.... And once you visit that place you see it is at the zenith of Michael Eisner's vision for Disney before Euro Disneyland and the death of Frank Wells changed things.... Just incredible.... And we say this as VGF people....

To be fair, the rooms are not as good as VGF...

We did this just last week for our 50 point direct add-on. It saved us approximately $180. Not worried about it being an issue down the road.
