Is my DH weird?

OP--I guess the answer is to start helping him spend his Christmas money on work related clothing purchases. It will make holiday shopping easy for you if all you have to do is get him some coveralls or a pair of boots for christmas.

Imagine the fun of extra shoe laces as a stocking stuffer.

Love it ;)

yes.. that does seem odd. Not buying someone a drink???

It's not about buying it, it's about him finishing a whole 2 liter in a day, maybe two days. That's a lot of empty calories. It's more from a health point than a money perspective. But I'm just as guilty for asking to get a drink at a drive thru or gas station.

I think I know where your husband is coming from (not agree with it - just get it). DH and I both get a certain amount of spending money every 2 weeks. I always use my spending money to buy new clothes when I need them. The clothes are neccessary (I've had to replace my entire wardrobe), but I do really enjoy getting them and wearing them, so I consider them fun. DH would never say anything to me about using our joint money on them, this is just something I choose to do so we can put the money elsewhere.

Maybe your husband thinks that because you get some enjoyment out of getting new clothes/pajamas, they should come out of your gift money. Again, not agreeing - just thinking of what he may be thinking.

Hmm.... so he gets to spend his gift money (fun money) on hobbies and you can only spend it on necessities. Time for you to get a hobby OP and when he throws these little remarks to you to make you feel guilty tell him you spent your money the way he did his, on hobbies. Yes, he is both selfish and stingy. :sad2: Do you comment to him when he spends his money on fishing? I wonder how does he justify this hypocrisy to you?

I am going to piggy back on this and say I spend at least $200 a year on just bras!:scared1:

I'm finding this comment relatively funny. When my DD (who is now 17) was about 5, and just discovering the value of money, her and I were at Kohls, and I *gasp* bought 2 bras that came to a total fo ~$35.

When the cashier told me the total - DD blurted out "I'm telling dad that you spent $35 on bras." The cashier said something that was hilarious...I remember the jist of it - just not how she said it.

The cashier is probably still telling this story at her family functions:rotfl:
