I am directing this to our Technical Board where they should be able to help you out. :)

If you've got it I do to. And running slow changing post. Is it my computer or because I uninstalled my Windows Millennium in fear of the virus?

Sounds like to me you have to update your settings on your IE Explorer.
click on Tools
click on internet options
click on settings of temporary internet files
make sure the (.) dot is in front of every visit to the page
click the OK buttons and you are done

it's probally in front of the Never line.

if you are using Netscape, maybe someone else can help

thanks for the tip i'll have to show it to my husband and see if he can fix it . i thought i was going crazy .glad to know it might not be that red thing after all

The Code Red Worm (or it could be called a Virus in the generic sense) is not anything that could affect your own pc. It only affects Servers that are running Windows 2000 or Windows NT and also Microsoft's IIS (Internet Information Services) application.

It's called a Worm because it attaches itself to a server that isn't protected with the security patch and it uses the newly affected server to broadcast itself looking for other servers. It ends up 'choking off' the available bandwith that servers have and ultimately slows down major sections of the Internet with the broadcast messages.

Microsoft has a security patch on it's Website for Administrators that need it.

I don't recall reading anything about the type of software the Dis Boards use, but their Administrator must have read about it by now and taken the appropriate action.

Hope that helps to alleviate some apprehension about the possible affects on your pc.

Al Biats thank you yes that does help i guess i am paranoid i did get struck by a virus a few years back so maybe thats why. and atigeg you were right about that setting dh changed it but i haven't been back on that computer since.hope it worked thanks again tomi

You're Welcome.

The change that atigeg suggested will make sure that your pc 'insists' on the latest view of any Web pages that are viewed. The Internet Explorer software keeps a 'cache' in it's memory of pages that have been viewed recently so that it can quickly find sites you have recently visited and go forward and backward quickly (for example) when you press the arrows in the upper left of your screen. By changing the setting to update every time, it should get the latest view of any pages.

If you have a decent Virus Scan program and you can keep your Virus Scan data files reasonably current by getting those periodic updates, you can cruise around the Internet with a degree of confidence.
