Yes, upgrading to a moderate is worth the extra cost. The values are really nice places to stay, don't get me wrong. However, even though you are not in the rooms much the little bit of extra room you have in the moderates does make a difference. Plus you have a little more of a choice for dining. And IMHO the resorts were a bit quieter. Not that I dislike the noise of the resort, but the values are a little more noisy than the other resorts. Again, not that I mind, but it is just something that I noticed when we went from ASM to CB. :thumbsup2

I've stayed in both and if you can afford a mod w/out a big budget crunch go for it. The theming is better, the rooms a little bigger (espcially comparing anything to our tiny room at ASMovies), food courts have more variety and depending on time of year mod's will be less crowded. Shorter lines at food court, check in, and for transportation. We also have had better bus service at mod's and POFQ and POR offer the boat to DTD which is wonderful.

don't know if this matters to you but we don't travel w/ the children and the mod's are quieter and always less kids around than values. Could also be b/c they are more spread out than value's too.

Not having been to a value resort, I can't really comment. However, I would make a list of the things you didn't like about the value resorts and see if people say they are any different at the moderate resorts. Hearing noises coming from other rooms and hallways seems to be a popular complaint about values, for instance. I've stayed at CSR and didn't notice those things. CSR also has quiet a/c (central air) that you can control (when you know how to override it). For me, that is a big plus, I hate the noisy air conditioners in other resorts. I loved CSR, and after looking at many posts on the values, I won't ever try one, but that is just me :)

I voted yes for 3 reasons.

1) I nearly have to have a fan on when I sleep or have the room ice cold to compensate. I have never been able to accomplish this at the value resorts with the digital thermostats. It has never been an issue at POR or POFQ.

2) The hot tubs and slides at the pool. My boys love the slide. We usually take an afternoon at the hotel during our trip to play at the pool.

3) The bigger vanity area with the curtain for privacy. I love this to give us a almost second room for getting ready in the mornings or going to bed at night. Someone can be in the shower and someone getting ready for bed or getting dressed without disturbing someone in the beds.

That's my rationale at least!

I voted yes. However that is because when I go to WDW where I lay my head matters to me. The values are of a quality I wouldn't choose while on the road so I'd have to have a very good reason to choose them for my actual vacation stay. It would have to be a combination of cost and an overriding need to stay on site. For the same money I can get someplace prettier with more amenities off site (and possibly less money if I traded for it).

To me you are getting bus and early entry staying in a value and that's about it. If you are going commando that is going to matter. If not moderates will offer you a greater range of choice in dining, complete pools and something unique at each one. For example we discovered that POFQ offers a wonderful nightly view of fireworks at EPCOT. POR offers fishing. They both have the boat to DTD.

I voted yes also. We stayed at All Star Movies in 2005 and then at Port Orleans Riverside in 2006. We did like All star Movies but we fell in love with Port Orleans. The room was bigger and that made a big difference even though there are just two of us. Having more space in the bedroom and having a bigger bath area was really nice. Also at Port Orleans Riverside you have quiet pools besides the big pool with the slides. After Port Orleans we decided that we didn't want to go back to value unless we just had to. Hope this helps and you will have a great time no matter where you stay. :)

I've never stayed at a Value but the reason that we stay in MODs is that
whenever I look at the Pictures of the Values with the Giant Statues, it gives me a headache.
So if it gives me a headache from looking at pictures,
how will I feel if I have to stay there.
My main reason to stay at a Mod is to relax and
slow down after a day at the parks,
Mods have done that for me.
I also like that the MODS have there own sit down resaurant on the grounds which makes it very convenant. :thumbsup2

I own at DVC also and just stayed at BWV, my new favorite. I also love POFQ and enjoy POP. My only caveat is that with the value resorts the buses (unless you are renting a car) leave you far away from the park gates, sometimes the very last stop. For me those long long walks kill my knees. There is enough walking in the parks. In December I am staying for a night at CBR because POP was sold out.
